Don't oversimplify. It makes you sound silly.

I said, if we go with a smaller forwardline next year, he could be a piece.
It isn't. It's basically what's happened the past 2 years.

I think people have been more saying he is a natural forward, and he is.
He has really had to work hard on the rest of his game but is getting the rewards.

He does have natural forward nous though which is why so many wanted him up there.

They can't admit he's a good winger.

And you can't admit he's a good forward.

He can be both, you know?

Anyway. Hooker thread.
I can and have. They can't and haven't

Who plays his role next year? Thatā€™s the question.

Like it or not, heā€™s played every game and is our leading goalkicker. Heā€™s tiring and needs a break, but heā€™s been very effective.
Assuming we donā€™t bring someone in then I imagine Wright, Jones and a second ruck become our tall forwards. So might be Hooker out, Phillips/Bryan in.

Or we might go a bit smaller with Langford and Stringer as medium marking forwards.

Or we can use the guy at FB who isn't really a defender.

Our forward line has actually been very good this season. Weā€™re right up there in terms of scoring and efficiency. Itā€™s certainly not something Iā€™d be rushing to change up. Think itā€™s something we actually have right.

Wright is in his perfect role imo, his versatility and ability to spend a lot of time in the ruck are great for us. Jones is Jones, leave him be, heā€™s developing nicely. Phillips or Bryan arenā€™t forwards. In any case theyā€™ll be needed in the ruck if (when) Draper goes down, all ruckmen get injured.

Nopeā€¦ none of them are playing the deep contested beast role in a weekly basis. This structure is serving us well. Iā€™m not against Hooker retiring, but weā€™ll need someone to play his role if so.

I still say we should chase Riccardi as heā€™s clearly out of favour and wouldnā€™t cost the earth. Heā€™s 21 and has played that exact role whenever heā€™s been seen at AFL level. He kicked 38 goals in the VFL in 2019, winning the VFL Rising Star Medal, before going up to GWS and getting a Rising Star nom last season.

Thatā€™s the game heā€™s apparent cooked after?

Clunking his marks again, 3 very gettable shots on goal that heā€™d convert on another day and 2 goal assists.

On the evidence of that game heā€™s got another year

I respect your opinion Zach but I think he provides no pressure out of our fwd line and the worst part of his game for me at the moment is how many contests he just doesn't make allowing the opposition an uncontested mark ?
Misses too many set shots for my liking also.

The game has clearly gone past him I donā€™t think thatā€™s even up for debate at this point

The issue is we have no one who could realistically fill the void he leaves

Agreed also copped a corkie in the first quarter.

That being said I donā€™t want him to go on because heā€™s a liability when the opposition have the ball and Hurley is already contracted.
