Love to see the Weid get a bit of AFL exposure after the bye. DemonTim how far away is he?
Didn't play last week. Rested as far as I know. I'd say he could play now if needed, but more likely last couple of rounds

Has slowed down the last few weeks and with Hogan, Watts and now Dawes playing some decent footy we are probably going to have to wait a little longer.

Did the Weid do any ruck work as a junior and has he at all for Casey?

Of course he's going to be developed as a key forward and hopefully he'll be played in tandem with Hogan, but the way we play with just one ruckman we're going to need someone to provide a chop-out occasionally.

Hogan can't ruck as far as I know, Dawes isn't suited to ruck, Watts gets out bodied easily and shouldn't be in the ruck at all and with Frost being a key backman now he shouldn't he rotated into the ruck coz it's harder to cover a key back. Don't know how much longer Pedo will be on our list or at least in our best 22.

In the future when Weids baulks up could he potentially be used as an occasional ruck when Gawn needs a spell?

He didn't play on the weekend.
I know but the few week before that he wasn't having as big impact as his first 4 games.

I thought this could be coming - Roos has shown that he will happily give kids a crack at AFL after a good VFL game or two, whereas older players need continuous consistent performance to get a gig in the seniors.

Glad i'll be at the game.

Think it's good that he gets a taste this year too. Something to work towards in preseason.

Against the Hawks??! Jack Watts gonna have PTSD back to 2009

I know what you're saying but there's one key difference between the two. Yes, they're both stick thin KPFs during their debuts, but Weideman relishes physical contact, flies for marks without second-guessing himself and is courageous to a tee.

Jack's learned to be better in that area but it's still not quite natural for him, imo. Weid, as much as he'll be a boy amongst men, will enjoy the contest against anyone.

Excited to watch him, but am I the only one who is going to raise the obvious point that it isn't the ideal time to debut him?

He has played his best game for the year in the VFL that is true, but what has he done before that? Don't get me wrong I hope he is a star FF for us but his excellent early season form had disappeared, plays one good game when we belt a bad side and instantly promoted. Would have thought our chance to beat Hawthorn would have been higher with Pedersen in instead, and even Dawes if Hogan doesn't get up.

I know our side this week is going to be very exciting (Hopefully) to watch as it has all our young guns excluding Salem, but I can't help thinking we will be on the end of a belting.

I would have thought Carlton was the go. Let him go against Weitering, but what heck, go nuts against the Hawks and kick a bag big man. Everyone will be watching elsewheres and Weid will sneak in and kick a bag.
