I can't see him leaving, I reckon him opening up early contract negioations with he's new manager is a clear sign of him looking to stay & not looking to force the club to pay extra $$ which is what imo Ralph Carr would have tried to do.

I think Richmond know how important he is and will be given a fair deal. probably a 6-7 year contract with spread out money.

Neither party want a 6-7 year deal;
You can’t be serious?
Yes us fans do , but player, manager or club don’t. Bolton will want a decent increase for 2-3 years then wants his last big contact.

I saw the Wingard jibe a few posts back, but he is unfairly maligned. He just can't stay on the park and stay fit. He's had rotten luck since crossing from Port. Keeps getting soft tissue injuries. I dunno... Is that his fault? When he has been up & going in previous years, he has been our most surgical, skilful underrated player. Sometimes this happens to talented players - their promising careers just peter out into nothing due to constant injuries.

No doubt Essendon supporters say the same about Stringer when others call him a 'part-time star.' ;)

I'd argue that injuries and bodies breaking down aside, none of the high paid senior players you outlined have shown enough consistent desperation over the course of recent seasons. It's one thing to lose a bit of your pace, leap, kicking length etc., but too often they play like blokes just seeing out their contracts rather than leaders who refuse to lose.

Which to me, is exactly why players like Stringer and De Goey get targeted for their attitude - not to mention also being show-offs like Wingard! ;)

Apart from that group of senior non-leaders, there's quite a bit to like about your list and the new game plan we saw earlier in the year. You're quite a few years off as I'm sure you're well aware, but there's plenty to work with IMO. :thumbsu:

I dont think he would knock back $7 mil over 7 year deal and that would take him to 32 years of age

That Rankine deal will cripple the Crows, especially on top of the Dawson deal.

Two biggest contracts will be HBF and FP... not goof list management IMO

Haven't read what it is Rankine will be making but surely it would be heavily front loaded therefore having very little effect once/if the crows are ready to compete in a few years time. 1.2m for the next two seasons followed by a few years at 650-800k or something along those lines.

Will be easily worth it going forward. Outside of Bolton will likely be the second more dangerous player forward of centre for the next decade.

My main concern if I was a Crow is that he’s already got hit big pay check so he might not feel the need to work hard to get as good as he can. Not to mention when other players are ready to sign a new contract

Na he’s not that type
He wants success and if he’s off a bit the Adelaide crowd will sure as hell tell him
