That first quarter is as good as we’ve seen from a young player the last few years. He and Wardlaw were incredible against a much more experienced hardened midfield.

The knee knock makes sense, just seemed less dynamic after quarter time. He also had Coniglio sitting on him at stoppage which is a credit to his first quarter and a great lesson for him.

I don’t expect that first quarter across all four for a couple years, but was very pleasing to see him and George set the tone early.

Our starts have been poor. Very bad in fact. Will screams leadership and have no doubt he primed himself for a big first quarter to change the trend. The coaches would have addressed it during the week and he responded.

Great signs for a player to do that.

He'll only get better as he gets fitter, stronger and more experience. His mindset and mental strength is right up there.

Driven individual and team player.

Had 10 disposals in the first quarter, then 3, 3 and 2 in the subsequent quarters. Probably a combination of a knock and someone tagging him caused the decline. If he can put together multiple quarters a game like his first quarter yesterday we’ll have an incredible player.
Looking forward to the day when we have multiple midfielders that need to be tagged

From memory he went at about 100% efficiency in the first quarter, was an impressive effort.

Not sure too many are doubting Will now . Continuity is king. If we can ever start getting all our best players in the seniors at once for long periods surely we will start to climb the ladder. And stop calling me Shirley.

Agree, player continuity will lead t individual improvement and more importantly team cohesion.

I believe 2025 is the year we rise strongly up the ladder and push for finals, the later part of this decade will be a lot of fun

Captain. Future captain. Guaranteed.

Wouldn't shock me at all. Will be a lot of competition though.

Simpkin is only 26 and will be around for a while, and deserves the gig for a few years.
