I’d love to hear their explanation for “medium impact”.
Its easy, Ben Long plays for St Kilda and is not a star player therefore **** him.

If it was some scrub from a big club it would be a token fine

Longy bumped Hanners in the head too! Sh!t happens during a game. His name doesn't start with Tom Hawkins or Tom Lynch or Trent Cotchin so he gets weeks
Not defending the mro As I think that’s a fine every time but long does need to get that crap out of his game. Doesn’t help anyone.

I don’t think it’s anything like the Cotchin incident. IMO Cotchin was going hard and low at the ball and the impact was accidental and to me Longy choose to go hard it him and bumped him in the head.
I love my sainters but maybe we needed to take our rose coloured glasses off and see it how it is.
The AFL doesn’t have it in for us.
They actually would probably love the fairytale story of a saints flag.
Don’t want to argue just throwing up another point of view.
Still think we can beat the tigers let’s focus on the positives go you mighty saints.

Or just refine his intentions and play a little smarter. He can still do what he does, and hurt just as much, but he just needs to learn to do it better. He plays on the line footy, which I love, it's just that he's a fraction off it most times. He could do with some one on one's with the rugby fellah.

Marshall to ruck all day will be crucial in getting us over the line. Love it win the big man grabs the ball out of the ruck and bangs it forward 50 metres. Nank isn’t the player he was 2-3 years ago and the prospect should have him covered.
Hanners Steele Jones Ross will have to play huge games in getting the ball going our way.
Billings and Hill will have to run all day and lace the ball out to our forwards.
All I want from King is to give a contest and get the ball to the feet of Butler, Lonie, Kent and Co.
Really think Paton, Clark, Coff can do a job on their smalls and Dougal’s job on Lynch will be massive.
So pumped for this final let’s not dwell on what we don’t have and focus on what we do.
Go you Mighty Saints.

Cotchin accidental?
No way imo

He lined him up
If he was going the ball he needed to be lower
Well and truly lined him up
Ill give him benefit and reckon he was lining up shiels shoilders as they're dodgy but caught him high as well.

Longy has to calm down a little
Lets be honest its great to see it but if he conects badly one day somwone is going to be in a world of hurt
If that was one of ours we would be flipping the **** out asking for ten week suspensions

Sure, they have no idea and are as inconsistent as hell in panel land at afl house and sure going on other results benny shouldve got of
But
He had a history and tbh im not surprised
Pissed off as hell
But cmon we aint surprised

He needs to change it up just slightly, change the technique

Near on killed hanners ffs

Still pissed tho
****ing panel is a deadset joke
Have to appeal
**** em

I reckon Savage & Marsh are the most likely ins. No idea who will be the third. Hopefully Battle but looks unlikely.

Wouldn‘t mind seeing Marsh have run with role against Martin, has the size & pace to take him on & hurt them going the other way, a bit like Steeles role last season.

Yet when Liam Ryan does it the commentators orgasm live on air

Absolutely nothing wrong with laying a bump

It shocking decision by the MRO given Macrae played out the game with no ill effects

He barely got him in the chin ffs

Laying a bump is great. Laying A bump that hits someone in the head is then taking it out of your hands. He is lucky that macrae didn’t get hurt but that’s just luck.

Didn't think we would beat the tigers when we didn't have any changes, but footy is a strange game and pressure does funny things.
Our outs will take some pressure off us and heap it on the Tigers IMO.

If we can find some score board pressure early, I'll be fascinated to see how the Tigers hold up.
Agree with taking the pressure off . We ll be massive underdogs. Just worried about our ins . Hoping like hell battle Is one of them as he’s a genuine best 22 .

I'd be using this article and Michael Christian's own words as Long's defence.

MARLION PICKETT – LOW IMPACT ($1000 FINE)
"Isaac Heeney went to ground, but was only down for two or three seconds – maybe four seconds max – but he was able to get up and play on. Taking into account his medical report, the player reaction and the visual look of the incident … we thought the most appropriate grading was low in that particular case."

BRAD EBERT – MEDIUM IMPACT (ONE MATCH)
"When we assessed both of those (the Shiel bump and the Ebert bump) in terms of the impact, we had one player in Curtis Taylor who went from the ground, had a concussion test ... he passed that test, but he spent most of the third quarter off the ground before being able to come back on the ground. That was starkly different to Harry Perryman's plight. He was able to get up in a few seconds and then continue to play. In terms of the potential to cause a more serious injury in both of those cases … there was similar momentum built by both players and they've both elected to bump. In determining impact, taking into account all of those factors including the impact on the player, the visual look, the medical reports for both players and then also applying the potential to cause a more serious injury provisions in both cases, we landed with medium for Ebert and high for Shiel."
"the visual look" - what a joke!!

So if the MRP thinks it "looks bad" irrespective of whether it actually had any impact - they can suspend a player.

Can only assume that the MRP thinks that punching people in the guts 40 metres off the ball (Lynch) doesn't look bad!!!!
