Well its great to know that the MRO work on a good or bad luck scale

Can also ask if Long goes the tackle and gets him high ....... what's the difference?

Liam Ryan goes the bump and everyone thinks its amazing ...... Ben Long goes the bump and he is a "maniac" as he was labelled in the media

phhht i never even heard of Daniel Cheney until now, apparently took him 10 years to get a Bachelor degree.

So you endorse bumping but ....... Long shouldn't do it o_O

Why does Long need to get the bump out of his game?

Does every other player need to get the bump out of their game ....... or only Long?

Does the bump now need to be outlawed because some shouldn't do it but other players can?

Saying that Long needs to get the bump out of his game is like saying someone who has been caught shoplifting should never go into a shop ...... or that someone caught speeding should never get behind the wheel again
Why does he need to get it out of his game? You aren’t serious? He isn’t very good at it that’s why. And I didn’t say he needs to get it out of his game anyway. He needs to do it better. If he can’t then he needs to get it out of his game.

I'm a realist of our chances this week, but in some respects perhaps the outs won't impact us as they would other teams. We are not a side that relies on a select few stars but rather on complete buy-in. Ratts has them playing as a cohesive unit, and that will be the same regardless of who comes in.
Will our talent be diminished? Of course
Will it be fatal to our chances? I'm not so sure
Still don't think we win, but i didn't think we would even before the outs hit.

On the bump debate-

I would have no issues if Long's actions were a suspension based on the potential for injury ... IF... that had been the stance all year. But it hasn't.

Now is not the time to draw a line in the sand. That could have been done in March.

Must challenge, and should win

We beat Richmond earlier in the year with one ruck. Notably Carlisle took 9 marks that day so his loss this time around will be felt if we can't find a suitable replacement.

I'm bullish of our chances on Friday night. We've really got nothing to lose. We've exceeded expectations this season. Boys have played out of their skins. Pressure of our first final now gone, pressure of winning one gone. Broken a lot of hoodoos this year. I would say all the pressure is on the Tigers. They will go in huge favourites and so they should. But I think that's a good thing for us.

We ran them ragged last time we played them. They never lead at any stage. Granted it was a while ago but what else can we go on. We play a similar game to the Lions and if we bring in pace we could be a shot.

It’s pretty amusing we hear they “take the result into consideration” over and over again all year and suddenly that’s gone.

End of the day we don’t want players being bumped in the head.
A fair bump that flaws somebody no problem at all great footy.
A bump that contacts the head you’re playing with fire.
I don’t mind it being a suspension if it is applied to all players, no ‘good bloke’ or ‘ball player’ get out of jail cards.

The comp is still clearly amateur hour level when you see how similar and worse incidents are let off regularly.

If we’re going down the cause & effect route for judging all bumps then this one can’t be a suspension.

You are imagining I’m defending the decision. Must have said 10 times it should be a fine. There is a difference saying long needs to get it out of his game and the mro decision. If he tackles macrae which was the best thing to do for everyone there is no report and we aren’t even worrying about the tribunal. Now it’s out of the clubs hands. As I’ve said bumping is great but once you hit them in the head it’s just good or bad luck

And in all honesty, he has to learn not to even put himself in this kind of position, because he is getting a reputation, warranted or not.

We want him to be tough, but he needs to be more careful. Can you imagine if Hanners had been injured after everything he’s done to get back.

Still, the MRO report on this is clearly incorrect, with low impact, so here’s hoping sanity prevails.

And I didn’t say he needs to get it out of his game anyway.

Not defending the mro As I think that’s a fine every time but long does need to get that crap out of his game. Doesn’t help anyone.

Well its pretty clear you did say it ....... but hey I guess it doesn't count if its more than 2 pages back

No I said get the crap out of his game and that crap is head high bumps. He needs to lower in in this instance tackle which most likely got us a free. You are clutching. Do you want me to show you the first post on this topic where I said it’s a fine

my opinion is anybody that bumps intentionally and makes head contact should be rubbed out.
Fine.

So do you have an opinion on the inconsistent interpretation of the rules by the MRP?

Do you have an opinion on what a club should do wnen the MRP applies an inconsistent penalty to one of their players?

yep my opinion of the mrp is that they are inconsistent and it can be a complete chook raffle.
My opinion is the club should fight it.
I really hope he gets off.
I remain in my opinion if you bump instead of tackling and hit the head you are putting yourself in a position to get rubbed out and probably should sit out a week and get that part out of your game.
