Watched the replay a 4th time today (luckily for me I have a football obsessed 7 year old who insists on watching the game every day) and I have to say he does need to tidy up his kicking. All the rest is pretty spot on though!!

From what I've noticed, he has a similar problem to what Merrett had early on, in the sense that he finds a great target with his smarts, and if it's hard to hit, he doesn't try to find a safer one.
Merrett didn't correct this, and just got better at hitting those targets. It will be interesting to see if Parish does the same, or just picks out safer ones, the former is probably better long term.

Two weeks in a row he has been the cleanest ball collector on the team. He bends down, picks it up and handballs it out so consistently and smoothly.

Really makes me wonder why he isn't getting more on ball time at the moment (size?) because he is by far the cleanest of our midfielders when it comes to gathering possession at the moment.

Having a cracking year so far. Looking forward to him spending more time in the guts as the year goes on.

Needs to work on hitting his targets by foot but really think it's more of a decision making issue rather than not being able to kick a ball. Very fixable and will just get better with time and experience.

Thoughts on darces' year so far? seems to be kicking the footy a bit more. Stats pretty similar to last year

He's doing everything right for mine bar that sometimes I feel he is too quick to get rid of the ball, has more options and isn't under huge pressure but gets rid of it really quickly.

Parish is progressing beautifully in his second year. He's one that only seems OK because of the crazy high expectations he has set for himself in year 1. You can really see the improvements he's made in terms of his physical development and how he's working on kicking a lot more which will be really good for him long term. It reminds me of Heppell in his second year who probably didn't shine as brightly as he did in his first year but may have actually been a better rounded player and he worked on a lot of his defensive actions (especially tackling which was not great in his first year).

Parish in my mind is on the same track as Heppell and Zerrett. He will become one of the better players of our competition and it won't take too long. Maybe 1 year, maybe 2 or 3. As the year goes on I expect he will attend more centre bounces again as well. He's one of those players that you never question his effort or intensity on the field - he's always trying.

One specific thing that I reckon he can work on to become a better player is identifying when he has time to pick out the best possible option. I think we've seen it with his delivery into the forward 50 when he's say 80 metres out he's actually quite good with those short kicks and weighting the ball and picking out a good option to a leading forward. When he gets the ball around the clearances though I think he's rushing it a bit and just banging it on the boot, when sometimes he has more time to work with. Identifying that and working to lower his eyes in those situations will help make him so much more impactful.
