There you go. Either way, we still won that trade.
I think if, and it's a big if, Francis comes one we'll call it a win-win-win.

We got a first (which resulted in Francis), Bird and a one pick downgrade for Carlisle
St. Kilda got Carlisle and a first (which resulted in Gresham) for a first and a second
Sydney salary dumped Bird for an upgrade in points which helped secure Mills.

Yep, sometimes it’s ok for all parties to feel happy about a trade.

Actually think Darcy might be the best hands in close we’ve got. Super clean and never fumbles. I can see him being our most valuable extractor from this day forward. Kinda reminds me of Sam Mitchel minus being a massive d-bag.

The only reason he didn’t walk into the club and immediately have the best hands at the club was because Jobe was still on the list and he is one of the absolute all timers in that regard

Is averaging close to the same stats as he has in his first four season's at the club but his impact seems so much more meaningful. His stats are alarmingly similar across the board from his first season to now. The one glaring improvement is how much more he is kicking it (+1.2 on 2018) which may coincide with him playing in the front half more. His goals tally is at a career high (12) and he is averaging more I50's (+.5) than his previous best in 2018.

I like what he is doing, I really do. He is at a point in his career where he could become one of our better players or meander out to just be another role player. He shows on so many occasions that he can play to a high level (rd 10 - 13 an example), just hope we aren't going to Essington him and hold him back.

This may or may not come as a surprise to some but according to James Kelly prior to the game last week: statistically, he ranked in the top 5 players in the league playing as a mid/ half-forward over the last 12 weeks of football.

Unfortunately some people see what they want to see but the stats don’t lie.

He is a seriouslly good midfielder now.

Hunts the ball and the players and puts his all into it.

Why we did not chuck him in the guts for longer periods has me bamboozled.

It was when Myers decided to drop himself to give Darcy more time playing in the guts... that was the big change. Prior to this he was playing more outside

I want him to be a midfielder only. Not some sort of combination of both. He is one of our quickest midfielders with genuine grunt in his game style.

He hunts both ball and man and is aggressive. Something that is wasted on a half forward flank.

2 things are standing out with Darcy this season, particularly so in the 2nd half of the season:
  1. Clean hands below his knees. He really is becoming a 1 touch player at senior level
  2. Fantastic accuracy with his set shot kicking for goal
Let's hope this is his new baseline to work from, and further improvement sees him go to the next level in 2020 and beyond (and maybe for another game or few in 2019)

He is building towards that I think.

His tackling pressure has been huge as well. 9 tackles against the pies last week (4 more then anyone else on the ground).
He will be a very important player for us next season.

Has avg 23 disposals a game in his last 12 AFL games (Minus injurey affected game - In which he had 7 in the first qtr with time on the clock)

Hes my first picked onballer next year and i reckon can win a B+F next year if picked as so

Id walk out with Parish, Zerrett and Shiel starting onball and hope we do in the first final. Maybe Shiel, Parish, Stringer

It's been a while since I've seen him completely go into his shell after a few bad turn overs.

Seems he's super harsh on himself and hates to let anyone down

He at least will tackle when it's required

Again too much half forward stuff for me. I'd rather see a Shiel or Z.Merrett play as a half forward. Maybe Merrett in a similar Whitfield type role next year.
