Player Watch #3: Dion Prestia Re-Signed for 2025

All we get told is that he is on the reported 5 year $4mil deal, none of us have any idea the breakdown of the deal year to year. So it's easy to get caught up with he is on $800k this season and isn't producing enough for that amount of investment. What if the contract is a maximum $4mil over 5 years. There could be clauses in the contract that state he can earn up to that amount if he hits certain criteria i.e. B n F finishes, finals appearances, Premierships and so on. These sorts of things none of us know.

As I've said previously Prestia could have performed better, no doubt about that, but there are valid reasons as to why he isn't. IMO there is no reason why Prestia can't get back to his best especially once he gets his fitness up and understands our systems and our coaches also understand how to best use him.
That's very true of course...nobody knows the contract in/outs. He no doubt is on some mix of retainer, performance & bonus.

Doesn't really distract tho from what I have been put forward tho...its ok to have expectations of him and if he was to be paid circa $4m...what would his KPI's be? I recall watching the Marngrook one night, he was on it and McAdam said something like "what do you care, you are on a million"

Never said it does distract, just saying that too many seem to get caught up on the reported figure being the be all and end all when it comes to players and how they perform. Prestia has time to deliver performances that match our investment and hopefully for all of us he does.

Sorry its taken me this long to get back to you Loin. I don't get the chance to post here as often as I used to in the past.

So...after re-reading our exchanges to this point...you have raised all sorts of side issues, put words into my mouth, backslid when you could and finally felt you had the right to climb up onto a high horse of common sense and realism...outstanding!! I'm not blameless either...I responded thinking you had something legitimate to bring to the discussion...you didn't, my bad.

So when you hop off the horse, can you respond to this question I asked of you...and if you actually have a view, the next time I'm here we can debate it...

No need to act like a total w***er but your prerogative to do so

What is your singular specific on topic question again?

His worst game is still tenfold on Prestia's best game with us. I don't go on other boards
after what happened to Groupie.
Treloar had 14 possessions and 1 tackle against essendon 2 weeks ago and kicked it horribly. Inaccurate comment

He's rated top 10 in disposals for the season and Prestia is 97th.
Treloar has outperformed him continually and there is no comparison between the two.
No more comments on such an obvious and simple issue.
I look at a host of games to make comparisons and not a single game.
Cotchin got 9 touches in an ef so that must make him redundant in your opinion.

Treloar has indeed had a better year then prestia. Doesn't mean your comment wasn't false.

Yeah but Treloar is carrying injuries which explains his poor games, there is nothing wrong with Prestia, he is just a spud who we overpaid for.

Prestia certainly isn't a spud

He's had seasons and seasons where he's out performed him.
The comparison between them is David without a slingshot v Goliath with a Sword. Only a fool would argue that Prestia is better.

Solid game in terrible conditions. Part of a midfield that is two points off second place.

Not a tagger and cant kick. Serious questions need to be asked. No passengers in september...
Turnovers in finals means end of the season

Lolololol. Thanks for the laughs.

Hit the nail on the head its a team game and Prestia, Caddy etc while maybe not at their beat have added immensely to that for Richmond, no surprise to see Cotchin and Martin able to dominate games.
