Let's wait for all the Geelong supporters to come in and say he's too old and too slow

Haven't read this thread but I hope that didn't happen. Most of us love Chappy and still will even though he's now a Bomber. I thought he deserved better from the club and unlike others he went to the B&F and showed class in his farewell speech.

Any Catter who bags the great man is ungrateful in the extreme! Good luck to Bomber Chapman.

Thompson says that Paul Chapman's experience will be invaluable for 2014 referencing the impact Brendon Goddard has made via todays Press Conference at Essendons new HPC in Tullamarine

The truth is Chapman was offered a one year contract to play next year but was told that kids vying for the same spot and playing at the same level would get a game ahead of him. I would have given him a year because I am a huge fan for Chappy and think he still has what it takes. He decided not to take the offer. I think it was an offer to play well or lose your spot. Barring injury he would have held his spot for much of this year. To be honest, if the same thing happens at Windy Hill this year, then I think an up and comer will do him out of a game too. Your only as good as your current form in this game. Chappy's last couple of games were great. I will miss him and would have loved to see him play out his career as a cat.

The other problem is this current system where you have to make room for the draft and take 2-3 new draftees. Geelong has so many potentials in the VFL that it was a case of making room or lose them. We did have a great year in the VFL too. We retired/traded 5 players, no delistings and upgraded 2 rookies leaving us 3 draft places. Sometimes tough calls have to be made and nobody wants to see champions the like of Chappy or Corey retire or move on. Case is at 32/33 most footballers these days(barring Fletch) are just about at the end. Good luck to Chappy and hopefully he wins you guys a flag over the Hawks with 3 goals in the last quarter in 2014.

No, it really hasn't happened. Cats fans on here are a good bunch and have been all class.

I think most also see the funny side to him going to the only other club that dislikes the Hawks as much as Geelong does.

The club has definitely, officially confirmed it?

I believe so, I think it was on the first article when he was traded to us.

I can't seem to find it though :\

Why wasn't Chappy there today? I couldn't wait to see pictures of him training with us and was left disappointed. Surely if he was there they would have released a picture?

Quite possibly on a reduced program because of his hammies.

On the problem scale, I don't feel his absence today would rank as a particularly high one.

Agree. Would be being monitored and eased into training. We wouldn't be wanting to take any chances with him. We want/need a full season from Chappy.

He finished a couple of weeks later than you guys remember.
I dont think he's allowed to start yet.

Yep, three weeks later.

Combine that with his age and hammies, and his absence at this point is not really alarming.

Yeah, from a team and fitness perspective I have no qualms.

Just as a devoted fan I want to see him in our training gear. ;)
