Sitting in the corner, rocking myself whilst with myself talking about shampoo, watching this and telling myself everything will be okay.

Forgive me for not jumping up and down until I see something substantial.

Haha, sorry, I was being intentionally melodramatic, because we all love him so dearly.
Figured you'd get in on it too.

No. No he's not. He's also 2 years older than Jacobs, has had no serious injuries on the scale of Jacobs, and is a far worse player.

But even then I wouldn't swap Gumby for Jacobs. Let alone bloody Suban. Might as well have kept Slattery if we want Suban, at least Slatts can defend.

Or just work harder at retaining Dyson.

Because by the day, the HOUR it appears we will trade him, and that is complete bullshit.

How can we hang on for so long to get him fit, only to lose him over an extra year when he would be on the cheap anyway??

It's absolute madness - one of the worst list management decisions I've ever seen IF it actually happens.

Reckon it’s a bit simplistic to say we’re just “losing him over an extra year”. That’s what happened with McPhee.

Reading between the lines, I think the EFC wisdom may be that he’s not a good bet physically going forward. Nothing we’ve seen in the past 6 years contradicts that.

Do people really think it’s a $ / contract length issue in isolation? It seems to be accepted that we’ve only offered him one year... there could be (I think there likely is) a very good reason for that?

Absolute madness for me would be assessing where he’s at, making a call on a fair and reasonable contract... and then ignoring all that because some other club (who knows next to nothing about him) offers him something that we think is excessive. I don’t know that Freo should be dictating our list management decisions.

Wait until he kicks 5 against us. I'll be cooking popcorn all night.

I predict a trade, followed by months of abuse toward the club, followed by him playing a serviceable game in the NAB Cup with 3 goals, followed by abuse going into hyper-overdrive amid claims he’s a “lock for AA”... he’ll then play 3 games next year, we’ll never hear another word about him... someone will raise it again one day, and everyone will say Hird and the club made what was always the correct, tough decision, and wonder why we were so soft by giving him 6 years in the first place, footy is a cutthroat business ya know.

Robbo, Venom Denham and Jon Ralph will lead this merry dance.

You forgot Phatprick Smith, he'll be licking his lips if Gumby starts the season well

Unrelated topic, I hear that obesity makes you more susceptible to dehydration.

And therefore a lot of licking of lips.

Curious.....
