Wait till Hurley learns how to mark by spending time with Joe ;)
How well does he read the ball in the air!

Wait till they teach him to try chest mark everything :(

Just not true (the Eagles fan bit). If you look at his original draft information his was a fremantle supporter, also well known that the whole family are big Freo supporters.

Nah i think he meant Gumby to Freo, Eagles send player/pick to Ess, Freo sends something to Eagles.

Not sure if you guys had read...... one of the most reliable posters over on the Blues board has stated Gumbleton failed a medical at Carlton.
The one year contract is on the table for a reason.

Bit of a misquote.

Gumbleton passed the ethics test and so there is no place for him in the navy blues

FFS over the two years, he's not going to be on massive coin... Would destroy me seeing him kick 6 on Hooker in a Carltank jumper!

GET IT DONE EFC!!

Yep ... the modern game doesn't need contested marking mobile forwards with massive engines ... ;)
But is that what he is? Sure he is a good mark but I have seen nothing to really suggest that he can become that hard running pack marking forward. I am happy to give him the one year contract but if he wants to leave and we receive adequate compensation I think we should cut our losses.

I would like to just see if we actually are going to do anything else this trade period.

I would personally want something done about Gumby by the end of this week..

I would have thought that if they were confident in the body, the contract would have been offered (like it was last time).. they have been burned for 6 years and don't want to do it again.

Finally (thank fully) they have hopped off the 'hype' bus and got onto the 'reality' line. He is worth 1 year, nothing more and if someone wants to poach him then we do the best trade we can.

It will be crazy insane and stupid if they offer him another two years of free medical service, sorry football contract, when he will break down in 2 weeks and supporters will be up in arms and they will have egg on their face.. again..

He won't pass many medicals.. Freo don't really have a medical that can be failed.. essentially if you two legs you are good to go (but it is optional)...

Hope we get a first rounder for him.

If Gumby was confident in his own body. He would have signed the 1 year deal. if he takes the deal for 3 years just to make sure he takes a pay cheque for the next couple of years.

Gumby, owes our football club, and as much as he needs to make sure he looks after himself. We have paid the price, and we deserve a return on investment and a show of faith the other way, for once.

Twice we have given him sizeable contracts out of faith. now a little needs to come back.

Loyalty might be almost dead in football. But we have shown this kid more loyalty that he has earnt.

I would personally be shattered if he requested a trade, and I hope we stick with him, at least for another year.

Couldn't give a shit if Hurley learns to mark. He's there to knock everyone the **** out to clear some room for Joe. :D

Am I right in saying that he has 1 year left of playing with Essendon before he is eligible for Free Agency?
From Gumbys point of view, wouldn't it be worth hangin on for another season if he wanted to move, regard pleas of the injury related risks.

Guy here at work reckons a possible 3 way trade on the cards, possibly involving Eagles (he's originally from Perth and Eagles fan).

Our doctors know Gumby so well by now maybe they realise he's a good chance that things will never be right with him. Or maybe they think Daniher is going to be so good it doesn't really matter!!

Gumby's family are red hot Freo supporters - His Mum has Freo number plates on her car.

Two years.

It's a worry that Pears/Hooker/Gumby have attracted little or no interest - I suppose with Pears and Hooker being contracted that may come into play - Our list management strategy will be compromised if at least one player doesn't move on.

It could also be because this trade period runs 3 times longer than normal. Clubs might be pacing themselves but still have interest while trying to get bigger deals done. Just a guess, I have no real idea.

I agree with both of these but you have to look at it from other clubs point of view. While we mainly look for the positives,(don't get me wrong both players have them and i'm backing them in) when you look at trading someone in you have to look at their worst and both have had periods where they have both struggle, be it poor midfield or not its the truth and it just one of those cases where they are worth more to us than any other club. But i'm happy with that as i feel if both can have a strong pre season they could prove to help as a fair bit next year.
