I'm so glad I made the 3 hour trip to watch the game. Gumby coming good, and the young boys debuting showed some great promise. I am not saying that Gumby is anywhere in the ball park of Reiwoldt as far as performance goes, however, he plays the type of game like Reiwoldt where he covers so much territory and can get it anywhere from the goal line to the centre wing. Having Hurley to then kick it to once he gets it 100 metres from goal will probably help his kicking, as there was a lot of times when he got it and had to bomb it long because we had no one forward of him that was either in space or looked like taking a contested mark. Things are looking up.

Positive signs, Prismall and Davey to find form and come in, Hurley coming back, Williams proving he is an asset, Gumby's dukes starting to heat up, Hille finding a little bit of touch, Ryder still to hit his straps, NLM looking good on return. I'm really looking forward to the future.

Re: 3. Scott Gumbleton

He looks brilliant when he gets a run at the ball and can attack the pack. Apart from the 2 contested marks, there have been times when he has split the pack and thrown himself into it like a man possesed. He and Hurley are very different but complimentary.

Hurley is the bloke you would kick to one on one (as seen with Tredrea and Riewoldt), Gumby is the one you would kick to on the lead or when there is a big pack.

Re: 3. Scott Gumbleton

Im having trouble understanding the concerns about his kicking. no question that he does drop the ball from a bit higher than you would like but i dont think inaccuracy is holding him back so why fiddle with it. When he connects them right, which is a most of the time, the ball is dead straight off the boot. Compare that to some of the high profile KPF's in the comp and its not an issue.

Re: 3. Scott Gumbleton

Kicking is one of those things that usually isn't good when it doesn't look good.

Whomb's clip has me even more confident of my initial assessment. There are a strange flourish after he kicks it. The rest looks pretty good.

no to alarm ppl or anything but near the end of the game gumby went up for a mark on the members wing and he seemed to get up gingerly from it. he went straight to the bench and i saw the docs working on either his calves or hammys and wen the siren went and he got up i saw him say "****" under his breathe and then walk very gingerly to shake hands. just an observation which i hope as much as any is just nothing

**THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST THREAD'S I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS**

Are you jokers for real??? Gary-freakin-moorcroft got more height than gumbleton! and at least he took a hanger over a legend like Brad Johnson. Who is Bret Thornton???

After 4 years of "GumbyWatch" , ur prodigal son finally took an average mark over an average player during an average game and you guys are getting moist. Just remember that Gary Moorcroft was a better player than gumbleton and apart from that one mark and red hair, who remembers him? And gumbleton doesn't even have red hair to be remembered for! He certainly won't be remembered for his kicking thats for sure.. and as for earlier comparisons with Nick Riewoldt.. im sorry I can't go on.. about to p*ss myself with laughter..

what a wasted thread. Im sorry i came across it. your other threads at least have some logic and substance behind them.
