Re: #30: Paddy Ryder - Paddy to sign 4 year/$2 mil deal per Channel 7 news

I think it was Matthew Egan during the week that said we need to do that (isolate him), because he doesn't lose a one on one.

I immediately thought of all the times it's been kicked over his head and been hung out to dry, and thought the comment was strange.

Then I remembered when we had him one out against Rance last week, and sure enough he was doing it again last night.

It used to be a weakness of his, but man he's becoming good at it.

Players like Maric and Bellchambers can be decent ruckmen, few can also be as good around the ground as Ryder.

I still prefer him in the ruck but, as I said at the start of the year, it is very obvious why the coaches want to keep expanding his game and give him more time forward.

Have said it for years; Kreuzer is this generation's Josh Fraser.

OK ruckman, OK forward, not great at either, both lumbering.

Both a supposed 4th midfielder, Kreuzer sure is slow and cumbersome.

Re: #30: Paddy Ryder - Better than Kreuzer?

Kong

You weaken your argument by including Goldstein - He was dropped from Round 6 to 7.

Form has been better the last 2 weeks.

And looking good today.

Re: #30: Paddy Ryder - Better than Kreuzer?

Paddy better than Kruezer 4 sure - unless your measuring on potential...?? Even then I think Paddy can still improve and his ceiling is higher

Re: #30: Paddy Ryder - Better than Kreuzer?

That's nice and incidental.

Its a fact.

And Goldstein wouldn't haven't been dropped to the VFL - If he had played 2 good games.

Anyway he seems to be on the way back - But still over-rated at this point in his career.

Do you really believe this?

From season 1 he has played some staggeringly good footy for a guy his size (i.e. recovery at ground level and second and third efforts).

None of this means that he is a better player than Ryder who has been developed near perfectly. It just makes it harder to seriously argue that Ryder is a better player when all you are faced with is hyperbole re KReuzer.

We have completely rounded Ryder's game, half by design and half by necessity. Ryder is now a much more important player because of his versatility. Kreuzer on the other hand has been left to grind himself into the dirt playing as a young ruckman.

Fraser never had the same physical impact on the contest and is not as good around the ground as Kreuzer in any event.

The biggest similarity I can see between Kreuzer and Fraser is that Kreuzer is also on the way to being burnt out by a desperate coach. I see know reason why Kreuzer cannot be used as a forward and second ruck to give him the time to get back his full fitness, confidence and form back. Lets face it, all the best ruckmen can play well as forwards. It is pretty hard to add the second string to your bow when you don't get the chance to play forward.

Re: #30: Paddy Ryder - Better than Kreuzer?

Kruezer played the second half of last year, i wouldnt call this his first year back...

Re: #30: Paddy Ryder - Better than Kreuzer?

I actually think Ryder can be the best player in the AFL.
We will know how good he can be when he hits 26.

Re: #30: Paddy Ryder - Better than Kreuzer?

There is one significant difference between Kreuzer and Josh Fraser - Kreuzer plays like a big man - crashes packs, creates a path for small men, blocks and shepherds.

This is what Fraser couldn't/wouldn't do.

Re: #30: Paddy Ryder - Better than Kreuzer?

Don't be fooled by how many marks he 'fumbles', but land straight on Davey, Jetta or Stants' tit. Great at bringing it down for the smalls.

Kreuzer's a solid footballer, he'll slowly build into something very good. Never understood the comparison.

Goldstein is struggling sharing the Ruck duties, ala Paddy last season,

I think Paddy is definitely better than Kruezer at this stage,

Re: #30: Paddy Ryder - Better than Kreuzer?

There's no question he's better than Kruezer at this point in time.

There's no question he's better than Kruezer at this point in time.

Paddy is in his seventh year and Kreuzer in his fifth year.

Let's look at Paddy in his fifth year which was 2010 - They are tracking similarly.
