Personally, I don't think pick 16 for Paddy is far off the mark. I'd back out recruiters to snag a good player at that range.

Maybe if we can swap 3rd/4th round picks then lets just get it done and move on.

What does that give us then Picks 16,19, 30 something?

As much as I rather keep Ryder a gun ruckman isn't what a great team needs, look at the two teams in the premiership in Sydney and Hawthorne. Neither has a great ruckman and if TBC return to 2013 form we will be fine. As long as we keep our bookends in Hurley/Hooker and Carlisle/Daniher forever we will be laughing.

Brisbane have holes everywhere. I think they would prefer beams though.
Disagree wholeheartedly. They have one of the best young lists in the country.

If Port had a higher first round pick.. we would get that.. unfortunately they don't.. #16 is the best pick they can offer..

So now we can be very confident that the minimum trade is now Ryder for #16.. from there it will be about working at the 'but wait there is more' prize.

I understand all the arguments about value.. but Collingwood won't get value for Beams either.. you never get 'full' value for a player.. no matter the circumstances.. the best you can hope for is a 50/50 trade.

If the Bombers walk away with #16 + a highly rated youngster.. it will be what it will be.

After the past 3 years.. I'll back our recruiting team to find a really good youngster with picks #16+ #19 and TBell covers the ruck duties... making our side better overall.

Ryder is a ridiculously valuable player, the most important on our list. He completely changes any team he is in - his versatility let's you allow for different contingencies and change selection around. He's two or three players in one.

His value is massive, and I hope the club remember this.
Disagree. Heppell far more valuable. I would also put Carlisle, Hurley and Watson ahead of him..

You can survive with an 'average' ruck division.. but you NEED premier mids and defenders if you want to challenge for a flag... we also have a bloke called Bellchambers that was making selection very difficult back in 2013 when he wasn't carrying an injury...

Ryder is valuable.. no doubt.. but let's not become those people who make out he is the only valuable player on the list.. or overstate his worth.. as others have said.. we are lucky he had this break out year.. if we were doing this exercise last season.. not sure we would have the same views.

No reason we can't get a 2nd round pick as well. Not confident players would want to be traded to us atm with the chance players may be suspended.

Hawthorn and Sydney have great talent across the board so the lack of a gun ruckman isn't as much of a negative for them. If they had Ryder, people would be saying we need an elite ruckman like them.
