Player Watch #30: Reece Conca

As they followed Grimes and Astbury for years. Of course he is a risk of sorts given his injury run, but this year and last were contact injuries, not the soft tissue one's of previous. Still think he is worth backing, as our inside depth is not great, and he suits and knows our high intensity style.
who cares about the other blokes and the type of injury. He's still in a higher risk bracket than most, plus he's coming in underdone with 64min. of footy in around two months after he limped off again.

The fitness team have nothing to do with Conca’s unreliable body as he’s struggled on and off for 8 seasons. He’s failed in both finals he played in and in one of them he was rushed back under done.
No way does he play especially after suffering another scare last week. He needs vfl time imo.

Reece will justify why we took him over Heppell tomorrow night

I'd love to see this more than just about anything (hope you're right) & you haven't just mozed Reece......;)

Everything is good in hindsight but I think Conca was the right pick at the time. Was best available and overlooked due to broken leg in his final year before the draft. Heppell had hamstring issues but that was likely talked up so he would fall to Essendon. Generally getting soft tissue problems at 17 is a bad omen.

Lynch would of been great too but we were terrible then and needed a midfielder even more than a forward. Been so unlucky with injuries. Hope he plays well and can stay in the team to win a flag

Good game by Cuddles tonight, only played 72 mins and had 21 touches with 5 tackles
Did his job and didnt roll an ankle

I reckon if he was fit he could become a top line midfielder. It's his fitness and body that let him down. He was solid today.
