Yah I wouldn't even say it's arguable. Sylvia played at least a couple of dozen good games. ~30 Brownlow votes, a number of 3 and 2 vote games, and was among the reasons we were competitive in 2010 and 2011. At least he cracked in, too.

It's funny though - one thing they have in common is that they're apparently both very good with fans. I remember talking to either Chris Connolly or Brent Moloney at training once who said that Sylvia was "king of the kids".
was a good bloke when I bumped into him at the pub once. had plenty of time for a chat.

On a mediocre day Sylvia was a serviceable HFF or rotation midfielder. On a mediocre day Watts was a liability. That's the difference.
Funnily enough, I also did the Footywire Comparison and was going to post that Watts will equal Sylvia's career games this weekend.

This is not the difference though. Sylvia and Watts are actually incredibly similar, in that on a good day they were goal kickers and game breakers. On a bad day, Sylvia coasted around packs and disappeared just as much as Watts did, and its disingenuous to say otherwise. He was genuinely ****ing terrible, and the only reason people think he wasn't is because he was such a shit bloke that you have to wonder whether it has overshadowed his career achievements.

It didn't. He was shit.

schmuttt to answer your question, I like G2B, 7/10 bloke easily, but he posts a lot of shite.

Worth noting that it took years for Col to get his body right and the solution ended up being essentially taping his core together to stop him getting injured. Watts had a much easier run.

Disagree. I don’t remember a lot of his early years but there’s no way his worst was as bad as Jack’s, and his best was definitely a lot better. They were definitely both shite though

That was his whole career. Even when he kicked it was like he was kicking a blow up footy. Wonderful skills but on the eye the least penetrating kick I can remember
Jim Stynes or Al Nicholson.

How good was his kick to Gawn?

And on his right.
This is why at the end of every year I bang on about drafting/trading in players who can kick first and foremost. Don't care what your vertical jump is. Don't care if you're fat. Can you kick off both feet and hit targets under pressure? If so, we can teach you the rest.

26 touches and 14 marks today. Dat left foot.

I was expecting him to be another Hannan (who is solid, by the way) but he really is a class above.

Has more than a bit of Yze in him. I would be getting a DNA test, were I his "father".

Completely flying under the radar too. He's a gun. Watching him play at the game today, he weights his kicks perfectly for the advantage of his team mate. He's playing more a wing role now and doing it wonderfully well. How he hasn't been listed as in our best players last few weeks I'll never know. Bit of Steven Stretch about him..
