The nank of 2024 is not the Nank of 2017

We are going to need Samson
Not sure about that.
2024 (avg - Disposals 16 - Marks 3.1 - Tackles 5.3 - Frees for 31, Against 35 - Goals 0.1 - Hit outs 31.7 - Clearances 2.8
2024 (avg) - Disposals 14.8 - Marks 3.1 - Tackles 4 - Frees for 22, Against 35 - Goals 0.2 - Hit outs 24.7 - Clearances 4.4

Plenty of life in him yet. Don't mind having Ryan as a backup ruck because he is going to be playing a lot of VFL if Nank stays healthy.

Ryan will bet better the older and stronger he gets. Knows how to ruck, but gets folded in half to much, which will improve with age and strength. And he has decent marking technique, times his leap and looks pretty natural. Just doesn't have the strength and body use to hold them, which again should come with age.

Nank just had a career best year despite what some of the nuffys choose to see. FMD some of them even thought Soldo was a better player :straining:
nanks problem is similar to picketts, vlossy, baker, mansell and Mykelti Lefau... they play hard and afl and umps wont umpire them the same way as they judge other players from other teams sadly.

Agree with peoples comments of he plays #1 ruck only. Atm that means in the VFL.
One proviso i would put in place is Ryan gets senior games by managing Nankervis and picking games where there would be a suitable match up for Ryan.

We have so many what you would call pure key forwards that we just cannot afford to play him forward taking games away from these new kids and a few already there

We know Lynch will get one spot for sure. I really think they will give Koschitzke the other kpf spot and that leaves one spot to get games into one of the younger talls Fawcett Bauer Gray Faull and Sims. Of that group atm Bauer or Sims looks the best fit. Bauer not kpp size imo but more agile and mobile sort of along Gunston lines.Or Sims because he could give a hand as a second ruck and is one that looks physically ready to go..
Rotate em thru and if one or two show enough then play em until they need a rest and then rinse and repeat.

Do you think that we would be top heavy playing a 3 tall forward line? Kosi needs to be played in defence in the Magoos, Bauer on the wing, Ryan rotating off the bench.

HF: Mansell, Fawcett/Gray, MRJ
FF: Campbell, Lynch, LeFau
IC: Ryan

Magoos:

HF: Green, Faull, Clarke
FF: Gray/Fawcett, Armstrong, Lalor
R: OHB
IC: Sims

It’s his leap. When watching the finals series in 2017 he was the dominant ruck of the series. Towered over all the competitors with aggression and smarts.

His game style has changed and while he still has the strength and aggression he doesn’t get off the ground as much.

Maybe, but he is getting more tap-outs. I think having a midfield of youth and or plodders has not helped him. Would love to see young Sims come one, but we will have Nank for a couple of years yet unless Ryan pulls a rabbit out of the hat.

Ryan has 3 years to be the man.
Happy Cracking Up GIF

it'll be interesting to see if he can hold the spot better this year. He has shown all the things needed, except physical dominance and genuine aggression. But not at the same time. I hope he comes good and can be the main man at the FAL level. I'm not expecting A grade, but just holding his own would be enough to be worth the list spot.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if you actually think that.

Soldo couldn't get a game ahead of Jordan Sweet this year.

See this is why you’re frustrating. Have you seen his missus

Kosi ~ 3 years, Chol 5 Balta 8. Ethan Read plays 4 games gets 4 years. All too long? Just contract length inflation.

Bolton was contracted to RFC for 5 odd years, didn't stop a trade.

3 years for Ryan it wont be Dusty money. Unless its spread over 3 years. Rucks have good currency at the trade table.

We took a Sims over another free agent Knobel. Sims for Naismith.

Ryan was back up ruck off the bench & Naismith was OK in ground zero but injury scared us off another free agent.

Ryan only really played KPF as Lynch injury cover this year. I think Ryan or Sims play the back up ruck off the bench. Ryan plays if Nank misses.

Not all too long, a few yes.

Never said it would. Bolton is a top-10 mid-forward in the league, there is a difference.

You must work at the club to know this.

Your guess has strategic merit.

lalor in the 2s no chance he will be in starting 18 come round 1

I wonder if the W's stance has softened? I know they act all inclusive until Hannah Mouncey comes along and the thought of getting pole-axed by a brute showed their true stance on what constitutes a "Woman"..... but Samson is soft as butter and has thus far shown no sign of having any balls. Since we've got him on a ludicrous 3 year deal I wonder if he grew back that ridiculous mop of hair if he declared he identifies as a W/ non binary/ trans if we could put him in the W team? He might actually take a few contested marks and be pretty decent at that level?

Post was more about how to get game time into the plethora of KPF's on the list, sure, if he's fit enough then debut him. Looks like MRJ has been in rehab so far this preseason so he could easily slot in there with Alger playing forward in the 2nds
