Player Watch #35: Harry Petty – is here for 3 more years, but is not a KPF or a ruck

They should use him on smalls and medium talls not key forwards.
I think he'll slot fairly comfortably provided a TMac/Hogan pivot works.

Jetta - Oscar - Lever
Hunt - Frost - Hibberd

I never said he was a hack, just the club seems to rate him a little lower than the supporter base.

Yep. He's a useful player with some unique traits but a lot of flaws. I wouldn't think he's in danger of being delisted any time soon, but he needs to keep improving.

Will have a modified start to pre-season training
TheAge said:
A minor elbow fracture suffered a week before the national draft means Melbourne recruit Harrison Petty will be on a modified training program at his new club until Christmas.

However the Demons, who had no hesitation in using pick 37 to select the rangy South Australian defender, are confident Petty will join full training in the new year.

Melbourne told Fairfax Media the unlucky Petty suffered the injury when he tripped as he jumped a wire fence and landed on his elbow.

Recruiters were all aware of the injury on draft night, viewing it as a minor setback, and Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney said Petty would not be hampered.

It was Petty, the 197cm defender, who was among the best. Despite his stats reading just 12 disposals and three marks, Petty’s influence in marking contests and ability to read the ball in defence was elite. At just 18 years of age, Petty looked comfortable at VFL level and is certainly one to watch this season - http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2018-04-10/vfl-team-review-round-one

Casey’s defensive structure was of high quality, with Harrison Petty – pick number 37 in the 2017 AFL Draft – leading the way. The 18-year-old, standing at 197cm, worked well with Declan Keilty to consistently neutralise the contest. - http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2018-04-08/casey-thrash-coburg-in-first-game

I have a good feeling about this kid.

Bring back Troy Davis
There is some alternative universe out there where our backline is:

B: Bartram Davis Garland
HB: Terlich Rivers White

And we won the flag.

Got a very good feeling about the crop of players from the last draft. No superstars, but got a good feeling Baker, Spargo, Petty and of course Fritsch will play a lot of senior footy. A mate of mine who goes to every Casey game has told me Petty looks very assured down back. Very rare to look that comfortable as a tall defender in their first year. I think our KPD stocks are looking great all of a sudden considering the young age and quality of OMac, Lever, Frost and Petty.

Man Bartram was an unlucky sob. Could have managed a lengthy career with us if he didn't get injured.

Worth noting he was steak knives in the Lever trade.

Not sure Frost is a long term prospect, so the opportunity for Petty is there.

Just me or is Harrison Petty the least footballing name ever?
