What would you pay Soup? Richmond have stated they are prepared to trade pick 28. Would you give the Tiggers back their 2nd rounder?
Teams aren't allowed to trade in the same pick they've traded out in the same draft with the same team they traded the pick out to.

But we could trade them our second rounder. And our third rounder.

Get. Jack.

Yep, just has to be done at this point.

We've worked ourselves into a corner, so if we have to pay overs like 2 x F2's with some change, so be it.

At this point pairing them, developing Matt as a CHB, getting Jack which enables Comben to play as the third intercept defender behind Matt and Dawson in the future is just too big of a carrot.

Hope like hell this list is as talented as Rawlings and Clarko thinks it is, as to get back into the draft, we will have to either have our medicine sitting out of a draft or take under for a F1 year on year.

Dawson and Whitlock as our baby giraffes. Need to be realistic that they're a few years away from coming online.
That's why we've brought in Darling, to give them time and coaching.

Moose is looking pretty solid, if we are bringing in a young tall for the 2025 season it will be him, not Whitlock.

our recruiters are allergic to drafting bigger bodied KPP

they love twigs

Wonder if Clarko’s eyes lit up and saw Jarryd Roughead in this kid? Roughead was 88kg’s when drafted.. wonder if mitlock is around the same build mark? Could be??

Shanahan 195cm and performed at vfl level against men, has the size needed already

He might be a gun in the long run, but you can't primarily rate 18 yo KPF's based on how they perform against men at that age surely? He might hit it with a bang but planning long term you have to be looking at how your guy goes against AFL level players at 24+ years of age.

When comparing Shanahan to Mitlock, Shanahan is shorter by 5cm, slower over 20m, less agile, has a worse tank, is less versatile, both in terms of roles he plays as a forward, and in terms of position, and as you mentioned already has the size needed (which is not a positive if we're talking scope for potential). Mitlock is also better when the ball hits the deck, whereas Shanahan offers very little after the contest.

Most his goals at VFL level were silver service on the lead and/or freebies over the back. There were almost no contested marks. Shanahan is a very good shot at goal, which is handy, but you need more than that as a modern day key forward (see Logan McDonald)

I'm genuinely not sure why you're so obsessed with him.

he looks the more talented player to me along with being more ready

time will tell

It would be awesome to have both twins, have 2 KPP twins ever played together?

I reckon dawson would have kept playing in 2024 if he didnt get injured.
Not years away.

Knew I'd heard the name somewhere!

When I saw his name and face in the 2014 GF RECORD, I hoped he'd make it to the AFL on the basis of being a kid called Fred.

Potentially an 11 year manifestation.

Whitlock's the side dish in this manifestation FWIW.

Not saying he is not, just that you can't be picking KPF's / KPD's based on their size and ability to cope against men at 18 - not saying it shouldn't be part of the equation.

As you say, time will tell.

how serious are we next year if our KPP stocks are all in the development stage, particularly forwards

The trade seems to hedge itself against a rise next year but at this stage it seems like a huge gamble, there is no way in hell I trust this team to get even 6 wins next year, when we should've had 6 this year minimum.

Take ego and status of high picks out of it, I really like this move. North need a tall to develop now on their upward curve Whitlock looks good. It’s a ballsy move but the extra year in the system with Darling as a mentor will be great for him and the club.

North playing chess whilst everyone else playing checkers.
