His contract runs out at the end of the Year?
He needs to be signed now !
Apparently he’s already triggered another year and they are working on a 3 year contract I heard

He ain’t going anywhere, he loves the club

His form is so exciting, but its also frustrating as hell. He stuck with Castagna, Aarts & Parker ahead of him for so long & there was no shortage of fans watching the VFL who could see Noah offered something very different. It seemed an obvious thing to at least try - seeing how quickly he has fitted in, you have to wonder how long the team could have been benefiting from his performance

Bro I been calling for him since 2021 lol
I knew he was special
Not many have his power, speed, agility and a natural smart footballer all in 1

Got potential to be top 5 player in the league imo

Dude, never mention Shedda’s name in the same sentence as Aarts and Castagna again pls

You just have yourself.

But in seriousness to assign the same description to all 3 together is unfair

Shiiteness because of hitting the wall after years of wonderful service and shiiteness because of just shiteness are two different things that need to be distinguished.

Just try to remember how you feel about Cumbo now ok. Feels good right. Positive affirmations all round. Because when he has a few poor games in a row, as young players tend to, or misses some crucial shots, don't be the fair weather "supporter" ready to put the boots into him, dud delist, send him back to the vfl, or butcher his character (some ought to be ****ing ashamed of yourselves for things said here about our players) like little bitches.

Half of you here didn't even know he's been building fitness and form in the vfl since last year after an ACL (see Soldo) and many think we stole him from Brisbane, when they would have kept him but simply ran out of points (because Dodoro) and couldn't match our bid. Don't let your ignorance make you look like a fool jumping on bandwagons.

It's great to see this kid developing before our eyes, but that's because he's been carefully managed until he was ready. Too many people sticking the boots into the club for shit they don't understand.

good call, im still a bit dark on wallet for the pressure he put on tambling by claiming we had the best 2 in the draft, he then flogged a young 66kg 19yo kid with already his own child, was homesick, not city smart and often injured or sore but wallace played him and played him even when he was lost, getting knocked around, lacking form and confidence just to prove a point. sadly he was never to be but still one of my favourites and had a good career for someone that was so badly managed.

Is a very good post with some good points, also as good as he as been still a valid discussion to be had around wanting more from him

Yes he kicked 5 goals, but he also only had 8 possies as he continues to develop would be great to see him get involved more

Definitely not advocating for him to be dropped or anything or saying he isn’t doing enough but still a lot of room for improvement, and you could even say that is a positive given how much of a weapon he could become if he manages to add a few more strings to his bow over the next few seasons

Brilliant post YOT. The club appears to have handled Cumberland and the other young players very well, just maybe Gibcus they exposed a bit too much a bit too early.

Maurice Jnr, Biggy, Jud Clarke, Sonsie, Dow, are all not quite ready yet but have all had some really good exposure this season.

Miller, Gibcus, Ralphsmith, Ross have been given good runs of games and now surely Cumberland will get that as well.

We haven’t seen Ryan(this year), Bauer, Banks or Brown as yet but they won’t be too far away from being given a taste.
And let’s not forget Balta is still only 22 years old.

In all the club has quietly snuck 95 games experience into players 22 or younger. To give one comparison, people have been going on about the Cats playing youngsters and they have put just 48 games into players 22 or younger. But the Demons figure is 155 games played by players 22 or younger, and it will be interesting to see how that plays out for them in finals.

It seems to me Richmond have prioritised youth this year but mainly playing the youngsters to their own advantage, and not murdering them. That 2019 draft is suddenly looking sneakily decent for us. It appears Martyn is a certain bust at pick 44. But Cumberland and Ralphsmith now give every indication of decent long careers. And between Dow and Biggy you would think there might be something to offer. 2-3 decent long term players out of a draft in a Premiership year would be a super result from a draft that has looked pretty shaky for us at times.

It is incredible to read criticism of our recruiting department on this board. If you pick up two decent players a year through the draft you are doing really well. Since being fully funded for the 2014 draft year, the club’s record would stack up brilliantly if weighted for the quality of picks available.

2014. Short Soldo still at Richmond, Lambert terrific career just retired.

2015 Rioli Broad still at Richmond both going well

2016 Bolton(now being mentioned in best in AFL discussions) and Graham going well

2017 Balta Miller Baker still at the club all going well or in Miller’s case relatively well.

2018 Not tracking quite so well but Ross is going ok.

2019 Pickett going well, Cumberland Ralphsmith great signs, Stack, Dow, Nyuon undetermined

2020 Rioli Jnr, great signs, Critter Ryan seems to be developing very nicely.

2021 Gibcus looks a future star, Sonsie, Clarke, Brown, Banks all showing positive early signs.

So there are 13 players there either currently playing well or showing great signs for the future. And another load in Soldo, Ross, Miller, Stack, Dow, Nyuon, Ryan, Sonsie, Clarke, Brown, Banks who collectively would be likely to hold strong value.

And that is on top of, in some cases(due to trades) because of the following players drafted by us in that period currently playing AFL at other clubs:

Chol, Stengle, Coleman-Jones, Butler, Higgins, Markov. And the now retired Lambert.

But our recruiters are clueless because they didn’t pick up Luke Dungstan. 🤣

Our club’s decision making and player management looks absolutely outstanding to me when being compared with the only thing they should be compared with - other clubs. No bad contracts which as Saints, Collingwood and now GWS are finding out and probably Carlton will find out, are the worst possible thing you can have. No recycled duds on our list. Steadily averaging 2 or more good players through drafting and clearly developing them well. 13 matches with the worst result a 6 point loss. And reading these pages Dimma is an idiot, Matthew Clarke has no idea, our assistants are no good, our captains are no good half our players are not fit for purpose….

Just a fantastic, high functioning football club, and Noah Cumberland is the latest evidence of that.

Well said.

You cannot get a more confident, loyal and team first mentality than Noah

Listen to how well he speaks, it’s all volume

I’m so aroused at the prospect of him!
This kid couldn’t be more impressive
Sky is the limit

Cumberlands draft profile courtesy AFL Draft Central

DRAFT ANALYSIS: “Aggressive both with and without the ball, Cumberland is a midfielder/forward with a terrific mix of inside and outside traits.”

BRISBANE Lions Academy product Noah Cumberland showed great improvement this year at both Under-18 and senior level to throw his name into the hat as a potential top 40 pick. Originally a pressure forward, Cumberland has grown to have an impact up the field and excelled for the Allies during the National Carnival – crowned by his 18 disposals and two goals against South Australia. Cumberland’s impact also extends beyond the common stat line, with his defensive pressure, aggression around the ball and fend-offs all things which catch the eye of close watchers. The one-percenters helped Cumberland fit the mould of a role player, but his extended damage with ball in hand made him much more than that as the year progressed. His five-game experience against mature bodies in the Lions’ premiership-winning NEAFL side also bodes well, with Cumberland finding the goals in three of those outings. While the Lions will be happy to have produced another promising academy member, they may find themselves having to pay up in points come draft night.

STRENGTHS:
Agility
Speed
Footy smarts
Tackling/Aggression
Inside/outside mix

IMPROVEMENTS:
Accumulation
Kicking consistency

Cumberland’s National Draft Combine performance has propelled his value once again, finishing fifth in the 20m sprint (2.931 seconds) and eighth in the agility test (8.208 seconds). His speed shows on-field too as he breaks the lines on the outside and takes on his opponents at will. The agility aspect is more obvious in-close as Cumberland combines his power with being fleet of foot to bustle through congestion. Together, these elements make up much of the Maroochydore junior’s aggressive style of play, which is evident both with and without the ball. His willingness to take the game on and use his penetrating kick going forward is one aspect, while his bullocking style around the stoppages going both ways is the other. Cumberland’s average of almost five tackles per national carnival game is right up there, as is his ability to score in almost every outing and it gives him that desirable mix of inside and outside play.

While his effort and rate of improvement cannot be denied, there are still areas of improvement for such raw players, and especially ones who have spent time on the sidelines due to injury. Cumberland’s penetrating kick is definitely an asset – more than 50 per cent of his effective kicks are long – but it is those short, 45-degree kicks and overall lowering of the eyes that will make Cumberland a more complete forward mover. He is quite kick-happy and often does so on the end of bursting runs, so can become really damaging with some sharpening up, finishing the Academy Series with a 52.5 per cent kicking efficiency. The other area of improvement is building that consistency and finding the ball more often though, with Cumberland breaking the 10-disposal mark at NEAFL level just once – to his credit, in the Grand Final – and he has the potential to do so, as seen in his 26-disposal effort against Dandenong in the NAB League. He may well enter the elite level as a pressure forward, but has the scope to become an effective inside midfielder with some work.

Spot on, gets caught out of position a little too much for my liking, but I’m hoping experience will fix that. Playing well and producing as I’d hoped he would

Did anyone else pick up the vibe that Dimma has been praising Cumberland through gritted teeth? Really not Dimma's sort of player and had to practically C4 the door off it's hinges to get a game. All that unguarded space over the past month has Dimma tossing and turning at night.
