Move him to half forward so he isn’t trying to play tall. He was manned up on 6,4” players and was playing deep
problem was he just gave up, didnt even contest half the time. was really ordinary. he's 6 foot not a midget at least battle it out in the air.

It would look exactly like this when you are bang on 6 foot and playing one out against an organised team defense including two to 3 guys who easily have your height and experience covered.
Yup it’s very annoying. But highlights his lack of footy IQ. Bloke needs to get on his bike more when it isn’t going his way. Run chase tackle. Out work the opponent

As much as this will sound way off the mark, he is an icing on the cake type player like Bolton. In a good team or even a team in contention with a stable best 26-28, good structures and players who work for each other and cover off his weaknesses, he's exactly the type of skill set who can and will get off the chain and be damaging.

Good teams don't have blokes that are fundamentally uncompetitive playing for them. Even mercurial types that do lots of damage do the team things, chase, tackle, compete.

Shai competes in the air and wins his own ball. It was why he had to play deeper forward this year and he at least made a contest which was something Cumberland was incapable of.

Cumberland doesn't have the will or the ticker in my view. People have bent over backwards making excuses for him but at the end of the day all he has shown is that he is an OK VFL level mid sized forward who lacks the aerial ability or defensive discipline to play at AFL level.

As intercept markers go they don't come much better than Ridley and Stewart.

If Cumberland stays put, then he has to be moved around to see if he can play higher up the ground in the VFL. If he plays well, same spot int he seniors.

Haven’t watched him consistently but it seems he just fades out of games. At senior level intensity and consistent effort should be the minimum expectation. I just don’t see it very much from Noah C…

This season without any tall forwards to draw his man to, sides put a tall on him and he often led them to the ball and was outpointed. He knew he could never compete in the air against backs like Stewart so lost all confidence to go for the ball in the air, which is one of his strengths for his size. If Lynch was playing Stewart would have had to leave him to help out his team mate, which is where Cumberland is quite good, at the fall of the ball. Kosi and co. did not warrant a second man up.

Having said that, a good player finds another way to get involved, he didn't. So if he stays on the list, he has to expand his game. No harm giving him another year because if it clicks he can play. Not saying likely but you never know because he has played some good football and his lack of defensive efforts has much improved.

It's like reading a litany of excuses, first it's coaching, then positional play and finally not being loved.

It's worse than the Sydney Stack thread in this regard.

Cumberland is absolutley one sided. He doesnt have a right foot or right hand, and if you dont have those basic skills you cant make it at this level unless you're an absolute superstar, and he aint. He showed promise a few years back, but his lack of defensive nouse and his inability to deliver accurately with his right foot means he is (was) easy to shut down. I feel for him, but he's not going to make it.

One sided? innaresting criticism
not ambidextrous. FMD Kmac can't hit the side of a barn on his preferred. MRJ rubbish kick for goal on his preferered. Nank has no right side.

Short & Sonsie kick on both. Broad handballs left handed.
We got 3 left footers in the club.
2 when Cumbo gets delisted. Shame he's not quite up to the level.
I look at the Dogs who have a lot of left footers. Dees too maybe... And think of Aust cricket team who's strategy is to have a big mix of left and right handed players.
Many left footers in draft?
