Quick thought - would there be any world where we would drop Warner and open with Head..thus allowing us to play both Green and Marsh (feel dirty saying it, but he did bat well first dig). We are gifting them a wicket in the first few overs every innings atm..would also allow us to use Starc and Cummins in super short bursts…
Yep great idea
Just do it

Very poor stuff all around after lunch . Game was there for the taking and we allowed England back in and then finally to be level pegging by days end.

Need 100+ from Head/Marsh/ Carey and some wagging of the tail .
250 looks too skinny from here for mine .

Think we will see another twist or two to come

why's everyone assume England can suddenly score easily in the fourth
I'm not, I am just complaining about some of the decision making of these players, both in bowling and in batting.

They need to be better, leaving a lot to very few this series, every innings it's always left to one person to be mercurial rather than just playing smart cricket, building partnerships, using the conditions we were gifted with the English down on bowlers.

Could have done a lot better with everything after lunch, Usman has had a great series so far but few others have shown any consistency or grit to battle out innings after innings.

We're in it, but not being smart or clinical at all which is disappointing. This team is good enough to close out these matches better than they're showing.

Makes for edge of your seat cricket though that's for sure.

Is this shit bowling to the tail is Cummings idea because if it is he needs rethink it because it’s ****ing stupid.

If it’s that red headed club cricketer who is the coach then he needs to be pissed off immediately and they beg Punter to take over.

What a utensil up with the ball, should have been an 80 run lead.

Yeah I was thinking if the Poms get over 200 they were doing well, got a few more they shouldn't.

People try to be too cute with plans to the tail sometimes, really bowl at the stumps or at their head occasionally, not that hard.

Batting across the board on this pitch has been pretty bad but our top 6 have been pretty awful the entire series thus far.

Some good glimpses but no way near consistent enough.

Up to head and marsh to save this. We lose either cheaply and I reckon this is done….weather pending…

Really important partnership here, recon we need 150-200 from here to give ourselves the best chance.

Just a real shame we had the chance to put the foot down and we didn’t take our opportunities.. yet again.

Hopefully we don’t have to see that useless potato Warner again, he’s just a waste of space now, and that arrogant smile as he walked off.. campaigner

That has to be it for him. We are starting 1 down each in innings. Marnus basically an opener

Warner needs to go.

His record in England is abysmal in the first place so why he is even there in the first place was a bad selection.

The match is evenly poised in my view.

Lead under 250 - Advantage England

Lead 250-275 - 50/50

Lead over 275 - Advantage Australia

Marsh, Head and Carey need to find a way to score 100 between them, and then a small contribution from the tail should put is in a good position to win.

England really are on their last legs. Stokes and Floginson injured. And it remains to be seen whether Wood has the fitness to back up his day one heroics.

We need to keep grinding. We are almost there…

I am trying to put this frustration to the back of my mind until at least lunch tomorrow and then reassess.

I 100% agree that we have let a chance to bury them slip by and we could definitely regret it. A lead of close to 300 is necessary to have the best chance here. Smith and Labuschagne in particular really let us down today, as well as letting them score 50 or so more runs than they should have.

Having said all of that we still have a chance to get the upper hand again and that starts in 11 hours.
