Great get for us! We really need a good ruck and finally we have one. I wonder how far off his peak he is? Hasn't turned 30 yet (b. 15.4.94). Can he once again be top 2 ruck in the comp? I'll be happy even if he's top 5.

I don't at all think Melbourne got "reamed" given they only paid pick 30 for him and he's a year older but I haven't heard anything about him improving in that period. However, I feel like we've got a great deal, and as Dan pointed out, it's so much better with Collingwood paying a chunk of his salary for years to come!

Hopefully Adams and Grundy's familiarity with each other is an extra bonus and a competitive advantage. Great trade period so far!

Pardon the intrusion.
Congratulations on the signing. He was treated shamefully at Melbourne and will lead your team up and up.
But let us win the 2024 flag, then you can win the next one.

Hopefully we can get one of those umpires who don't understand advantage to steer us home

Excellent work by Beatson and Gardiner. Signed sealed and delivered on day 3. No fuss no muss.

EFA... Lions deserve a flag after your top end finishes over the last few years. As long as you're happy with the one flag before the Swans juggernaut takes over I can live with that.

I just wish you guys snagged the 2023 flag.

Welcome aboard Grundy!

Just gotta say I'm stoked with having picked up Grundy. Will end up being recruit of the year in 2024 (Adams a close second). And at pick 46, that's a steal.

Will instantly make us a top 4 side.

Great job by the swans recruitment team. Picked up the best available ruckman. Can't complain with that.

Can't be happy for 1 ******* day can we?

Also that was under Buckley when the whole team sucked. 2022 idk how many games Grundy played but I don't think it was many

lol sorry 😂 It was a few years in a row actually

doesn't matter either just noticed it. I am happy as a dog with two dicks with him joining

Great stat, I just wish I had more than 5 premiership teams to check that you're right.!
well i'm going off the footywire player database.

And according to that there are only 3 to be on AFL lists

Heath, Brodie

and Riley Grundy who was delisted never playing a senior AFL game

Can someone who knows please explain why Grundy is such a good ruckman? I have read he is not a great tap ruckman, can't jump and is not good playing forward. So I'm guessing it's his ability to stay involved in the play and play essentially like an extra mid after the ruck contest? How is his contested marking? Is he a good target when we need to kick down the line coming out of defence (even if that's not really our style)?

That was when he was primary ruck when Max Gawn was out. That's where he needs to be, rucking and playing towards goal. The whole experiment with playing him backup ruck and in the forwards just didn't work. I think he's got a whole lot left in the tank and can still be one of the best rucks in the competition.

He doesn't even need to be All Australian level. He just needs to be competitive. Hickey this year was just not competitive at all. If he breaks even and the mids know they don't have to start of defensively, it will be a great improvement for us

Bang on. He doesn't dominate the tap but he will compete and he's like another midfielder when it hits the deck. Our clearances are going to look so much better. I know that's a "highlight" reel so it's edited for effect but he gave Ladhams a bath.

He is really tall.

That's the key.

He is really strong and fit.

That's awesome.

Very coordinated and plays like an extra mid as well as mobile around the ground and is just fine resting forward.

Yippeeee!!!

He can't tap (apparently).

He will fit right in with our group.

Can take a contested mark down the line.

See point 1.
