De Goey will be forgotten about as soon as he retires.
The best players in the league will be compared to Dusty for a long, long time after Dusty hangs up the boots.
Similar playing style - that is all. That is why they're compared. When DeGoey is on - he is comparable in the effect he has on the game - but he doesn't have the mental fortitude to do it consistently when it counts and therefore cannot compare in quality to Dusty
Think of all the players in the last handful of years that have been "potentially the next Dusty"

De Goey could be compared to Carey for bringing the game into disrepute, but not much else.
There was a little but of rust as you'd expect, but that play where he broke two tackles, burst from the centre and delivered a bullet to Riewoldt was

Found myself watching some Dusty highlights last night which I haven’t done in a long while.
The f’n importance of his first goal in the ‘20 GF makes it go down as the best goal of his career for mine. Down 14-35 a minute out from the half with the scoreline flattering us. Cats have the game on their terms and our forwards are struggling to get anything going on the worst possible night to do so. Just wills his way to the fall of the ball, pushes off whoever was in his way and puts the team on his back and says come with me boys. And they did
You have the Dom Sheed right place right time GF moments. But for sheer force of will when the chips were down, for a momentum changing moment on the big stage it doesn’t get much better than that. When the club needed him the most he delivered in spades then went on to kick 3 more. Forget all his medals, everyone knows he’s been the best player since 2017. That right there is why he’s the champion that he is.
