Top of my head you could argue Knights and Campbell were our best players at the time.
Not clear best but consistent best.
Yeah I thought of Knights but we had Richo then. Even the gap between Cotchin & Martin wasn't that big when he was first appointed, Cotchin probably more consistent and just won the Brownlow.

The photo on the OP really drives home the fact how great Dusty is . 3 Norm Smiths , but stellar performances in all other finals . Truly blessed .
Just sitting here with a cuppa thinking of that goal at the end of the last quarter in 2020. Just got a chill .

But they will be taking in the professionalism, the training needed etx.

Exactly. Being in the presence of the great man shows he cares. It’s not footy 24/7 the amount of shit you can talk on the course is amazing. They’ll be soaking up every word he says.

Oh sure they will, nothing like having down time from work and still talking work.

Only problem with Dusty as captain is how many years he intends to play on, he'd have a blank contract put in front of him you'd think and that's fine but if he only intends to go around next year I don't like the idea of a revolving door captaincy, need to find the next youngish Cotch type like a Baker who can take the group on a journey not a season.

If Dusty wants it (and plans on retiring a one club player) I’d give it to him and have the vice as the type you describe ready to takeover when retirement comes.

It’s an appropriate time to intro next gen leadership group

Let Dusty be Dusty. I can't see why he would want the Captaincy, or why we would push him into it.

The way he finished 2023 was close to 2017 form. If yze manages him well, and we get our structures and game plan right he'll the comp apart in 2024.

Just get out of his way, and let's just work on making the team work, with Dusty doing Dusty in it.

And not many of those were easy goals either. Footballing genius. The only one playing currently. No other player comes close.
But but but Kmart Dusty and Cash Converters Dusty

if Dusty has the hunger for it..... it is his, it will send tiger fans into a frenzy and and elevate him into or even above Captain Blood Territory if he is not already there. he is head and shoulders above any other candidates.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting we push him into a position he doesn’t want.
More hypothetically that if he wants it, you’d give it to him.
