We should be viewing 38 as valuable, not useless.
Bulldogs 17 is with 1025 points
Pick 38 (465) + Pick 28 (677) = 1142 points. To sweeten the deal this year with more points we could even throw in pick 40 (429) for their future second.

38+28 for 17 or 38+28+40 for 17 + future second

Hit the draft with 7, 15, 17, 26, 44 + future second 2022
Better than this would be to trade 40, 44 and the likely Chol compo of 45 for the Doggies pick. Might be wishful thinking but I still believe CCJ is worth pick 20. If both of those hypotheticals fall into place it could leave us with a nice draft bounty of 7, 15, 17/18, 20, 26 & 28. Lots to work with or even more to regenerate the list with.

Or Nank has an injury free year.
Soldo has a big preseason and gets back to 2020 form.
Ryan also gets another preseason for development and starts impacting VFL games well and is pushing for senior games by midseason.
We also have Mate, anyone know how he is progressing

It's the breaking COVID restrictions that's the issue. I agree with you that the whole "kebab shop fight" thing was massively overblown btw.

I also have my own theories as to why that whole thing has led him to leave, but your board is not the place to share them.
Please share your "theories"

Well spoken, Sir.
Extremely well summed up.
Will add this concept of loyalty and owing the club is outdated, or more to the point dead.
It's a business - nothing more, nothing less.
Clubs and players will do what's best for them and are free to do so.
Agree with that one, really don’t understand the sentiment that players owe clubs since clubs are also more than happy to delist or force players out when they are no longer a benefit to the club

It’s easy to try and push a supporter mindset of loyalty onto a player when it’s just a job for them

Sure some players may develop that sense of loyalty over time but that is probably a small minority of players and it’s unrealistic to expect it in the modern footy environment

Gone are the days of a player representing the postcode they grew up in

Remember when Marlion Pickett took the spectacular, courageous, backwards leap mark in the pack in the VFL in 2019.
One of the marks of the year.
Sensational.
That was when Marlion was pencilled in as likely to play in the Grand Final.
Kebab-Jones appeared to remonstrate afterwards that he took the mark.

Would those theories happen to be 'teh lol Richmond teh sux lol'?

Or just *fart noises*?

This bloke can fu** right off. Get the deal done and move on. Total spud

the reporting i have read is actually suggesting he has chosen Nth IF he chooses to move on from Richmond. So its still undecided, but its Nth or Richmond.

What contract would u offer him? Nth apparently $450k pa for 4. - what should we offer?

I don't think we'll get 20 for Coleman-Jones and for Footscray to give us their first we'd have to maybe subtract a third and offer 28 in that package. Still even so it would be a great hand to regenerate the list.

No, they wouldn't. I also don't want to get carded. I'll post them on our board, feel free to have a look.

North will want to do a deal during the trade period to ward off any possibility of CCJ changing his mind before the PSD and re-signing.
I still don’t think they will budge on 38 though.
If we get a 2nd or 3rd round compo for Marbs we could perhaps package those two picks to pies and dogs for points in exchange for a future 2nd and 3rd.

Why are you thinking that though? Do you think he is worth only pick 38? The 2nd rounder or future 2nd rounder is pretty much exactly where i think he is worth on his talents/age - but also the contract they are offering him. A 22 yo with less than 15 games on a 4 x $450k contract - that is NOT a pick 38.

I’d also add at what point does it end, even if you factor in the impact of the COVID breach last year.

By all accounts, CCJ would have to give up two guaranteed years (minimum), around $1 million (2 years at $600k vs 4 years at $1.6m) and by all accounts not play the position that he apparently wants to play.

That’s a big ask, even factoring in the COVID breach.

nothing now if he’s requested a trade. Get it done move on

Yeah plus as a club we like to talk about accepting flaws, saying we have forgiven them for the mistakes and letting players being themselves but than go on to try and use something like the Gold Coast incident as some kind of tool to guilt him into staying would make the club look hypocritical and pretty unprofessional

If he wants to leave let him go no point having a player who’s heart isn’t in it

I am thinking this because they can walk him to the PSD for nothing.
Doesn't matter what he is worth. His worth is significantly downgraded because of the fact that North can get him for zero.

Think North will work with us - I hope so at least - they know what goes around comes around!
