I am almost certain we get pick 20, but I am equally as confident we probably give up one of our picks in the 20's also.

Something like,

CJ, pick 26 and a late pick
for Pick 20, 38 and Taz.
Might not need to be that complicated

CJ and 28

Taz and 20

That's similar to what I was thinking. Pick 20, but not on its own is fair given the circumstances.

You heard this hear first.

Tigers are very confident they can resign CJ if a suitable trade isnt agreed to.

PSD is not an option - Take that to the bank.

For those who send money to Uncle Rupert, what does Ralphy say here?

View attachment 1242187

First - let it be known I do not pay money to rupert, but for some reason it's giving me access, so here it is:

Richmond will play hard ball on a trade for Callum Coleman-Jones, with rival list managers believing the Roos will have to give over pick 20 as the centrepiece of the trade.

The Roos are adamant they will keep that pick and hand over a later selection given Coleman-Jones played only nine games in four years at Richmond.

Richmond were genuinely filthy that former No.20 pick Coleman-Jones decided to move, although Damien Hardwick’s Fox Footy demand for pick one was very much tongue in cheek.

“CJ, for us he’s a required player. He has requested a trade to the Kangaroos which is disappointing but we look forward to receiving pick one coming back our way,” he joked.

North Melbourne could secure “CCJ” in the pre-season draft but players don’t want to use that avenue because it leaves their former club without fair compensation.

Jack Martin and Jackson Hately only used that avenue in recent years after trades fell through at the last minute.

The other bit of leverage the Roos have is departing free agent Robbie Tarrant.

The Tigers would normally trade for North Melbourne defender Tarrant with a late throwaway pick so it didn’t dilute their incoming free agency compensation for Mabior Chol.

That pick might only be a third-rounder but it could help the Tigers move up in the draft order.

The Roos would have to be prepared to do a trade on Tarrant instead of letting him go so it will be up to the Tigers to play nice on a trade.

Hawks traded for Hartigan to ensure it didn’t hurt their compo. Richmond will want to do the same with Tarrant. For someone with such a “thorough” understanding of how the system works, you shouldn’t need to have that explained. You will want to trade, which we will facilitate to help both parties.

A lot of other dribble in your post, even after you edited it, it’s still for the bin.

And let’s not forget the AFL’s ‘Richmond’ tax, also known as Bellis (Brandon Ellis at 26yo signing for 5-years and $3m delivering an end of second round pick….). You can bet your bottom dollar if we lose Chol and get Tarrant the AFL will find a way to cancel them out.

So we’ve got to trade for Tarrant to keep the cheats at the AFL out of it.

I’d favour Tarrant and a future second, for CJ and Pick 40. Sures up our draft position for 2022 given we have loads of picks this year.

Dammit, it's not 'sures' it's 'shores' ;)

Tarrant and future 2nd, for CJ

*Edit.....keep the trades separate. Tarrant for our future 4th with their future 5th coming back. CCJ for a future 2nd and maybe a sweetener

In terms of ‘actual’ trade value you only have to ask this : if CCJ was in the National Draft this year, where would he be selected? I’d suggest between 12-18. Certainty top-20. CCJ is unlikely to want to be part of a trade debacle that turns into back page news where Norf offer 38 and stand their ground. And the ever present threat to Norf of CCJ just deciding it’s all too much pressure and staying at Richmond is very real.

Norf will also want to get this done quickly so they can use the PSD as leverage to secure another player during trade week. Or obviously pick someone up who slips through to the e PSD.

For a lot of reasons a fair deal will be done that slightly falls in favour of Norf. But they won’t try to screw us.

There is no chance that CCJ would go top 20 in the open draft this year. Absolutely no chance.

Assume you know little about this years crop based on this post, but I personally don’t think he’d even get picked in the top 30.

One of your mates asked this on the draft board, should check the answers of the “experts” before trying to justify such absurd picks.

He slid in his draft year so why wouldn’t be be a top 20 in this draft especially with a big lack of kkp prospects in this years draft. Honestly I’d draft him top 20

So Norf are getting a pretty shit player then and paying him $450k x 4
What a sh!t stain of a club

You are a serious idiot mate, Have a look at his draft and how strong that was and compared to this draft
you have NFI and are now just trolling

I'm not going to insult you BUT
The boy is a first round pick, Pick 20 will do that's what we got him for.
You guys have obviously chased him all year a 4 year deal 450 WOW great deal for callum
Must be a great young player
now good young ruckmen are hard to come by, you will get 10 years out of him.
Pick 20
You won't admit it but put the shoe on the other foot!!
this is what he is worth.
We could just trade him to Gold coast.. they offered 5 years
This is what we will get North aren't as difficult as you being a Dick on here

Who of that top 30 is he getting selected before?

Every trade period gormless Norf supporters get a little chubby over ******* over other teams in trades.
******* pathetic really.
I think it’s hilarious. North and Carlton supporters on the Draft and Trading Board. This has always been their time to shine.

Why are you paying him $450k a year for 4 years? You must think your footy department are mugs if you are doing that for a guy who wouldn't rate highly in this draft? Just go to the draft, save $350k a year to spend on other things. No, you guys do rate him very highly. He was a Pick 20 in his draft year but was rated higher, he fell for a number of reasons but still a first rounder. 4 years development at the best club in that period. He is better than a lot of them at these draft.

We are offering him 4Y because he fills a need.

400-450k is what is being reported - The average wage in the competition is 360k approx. Didn't think it took a genius to understand that a rival club had to pay slightly overs on a contract perspective to lure a player out.

Where he was drafted in 2017 & the fact he has 4 years of development, is largely irrelevant when he's OOC, played 9 games in 4 years & wants out.

As I said, there is no chance he'd go top 20 this draft & unlikely he'd even go top 30 IMO.

Geez, must be a worry given you had to make a post here about it...
