Taylor can go back to the VFL, get 25, kick 4 and maybe come back in.

Eddie get's his chance now.
Sorry meant Paul Curtis . Taylor may or may not get a run in the reserves but I think Big Al likes him in to be honest

Appears to be a lot of confusion in here, over who should make way for Ford.
In my opinion, for what it’s worth, Paul Curtis is the one that should be making way.
Curtis Taylor has hit the scoreboard more often whilst covering far more ground than our No. 25 and doing with far more intensity.
‘Ol No. 25 hasn’t looked anywhere near it since head butting the goal post.

Yeah. It wouldn't hurt to give a run in the twos till he gets his mojo back.

While I agree, to be fair to him and the team - he did go back to get his mojo and it only took one game to do so.

It seemed that way but he's playing timidly, so maybe he needs to spend a few weeks there with tackles and pressure as a kpi.

Oh I agree he needs some development time. The problem with going back to the VFL for it was that ultimately he is actually clearly too good at that level, so unfortunately he doesn't actually get to work on his weaknesses in the VFL because he brutalises opponents and gets his 3-4 goals without too much trouble.

When he comes up to AFL level we don't necessarily need a specialist 3rd forward who bobs up every now and again for a goal. We need pressure around the foot of Larkey. Hopefully they are working on how to make this happen with Curtis because it won't happen with Taylor either. We have very little danger at the drop of the ball - Zurhaar is easily our most dangerous "small" forward around opponents and we are expecting him to work upfield, do part time mid and then somehow push forward and kick the goals. He had a messy day but he is being tasked with essentially being a Dusty esque match winner each game which isn't the easiest ask.

Back on topic, I think Ford deserves a run after this weekend and you need to setup to his strengths. He should be given somewhat of a free run to play as a small FF whilst those with more strategic minds (ie. Larkey) work up and around him. Curtis should be given the mandate of acting as the crumbing high pressure forward - even though it's probably not necessarily his schtick - around Larkey and Ford for this week. Taylor would be on my list of maybe's to come out but I think he'll probably stay as he appears capable of playing a role as requested which coaches will like.

I think we do need a specialist third KPF, but more so as a linking man. Taylor/Curtis/Mahoney/Drury aren't capable of getting enough footy to be that link on transition. If Eddie wants to get a game, he needs to replicate the first quarter from yesterday. Pushing back hard and then doubling back forward hard on transition, as he is too undersized to play as a contested marking KPF.

The only problem I have with Ford is 23 and 3 looks a solid return but 13 and 2 of that was in the first quarter. His previous VFL game was four touches and 1 behind. I'm not sure he bashed the door down as much as some are thinking.

I agree he hasn't been all that impressive on a consistent basis. I think he's still pretty far off it and not much of that will translate to the seniors, he'd be a 10 touches 1 goal type of game and that's not good enough.

Kind of disagree. The weather and delivery was atrocious in the second and third quarters, which quelled the influence of Fordy and most of the team. He then had a good last quarter, albeit in dryer conditions.

He also had 23 disposals against Sydney, so there is some form there.
At this stage, I think he is close to banging down the door with that performance, but isn’t quite there yet. Needs multiple consistent performances.

Think Ford has been made to play as a KPF. Maybe playing that role has taken away what he was good at. Leading up & down the ground + pressure acts.
