certainly has something. Needs to keep building his tank, can’t run at AFL standard right now which is hardly surprising.

Seems to have the tackling gene - for whatever reason they just seem to stick, even against much bigger and stronger players.

Not ready for four quarters at the top level but I hope he gets another shot next week. A few games in a row will do him good .

There’s a debut jumper presentation/interview/highlights video on the club website now, they have a reverse camera angle of his goal where you can see how he got control of the ball.

Actually very impressive, nudges his opponent off balance under the fall of the ball (gently enough that you can’t see it from the other angle), guides the ball with one hand then gathers it and takes off towards the goal square.

Very classy

Has the tricks to make it but desperately needs to work on his motor. That will come though with game time at VFL level.

After all the football he has missed I'd be surprised if it wasn't.
Get this kid on a running program in the off-season then stick him in the 22.

Tex Wanganeen

Key stats: Two goals, 13 disposals, four tackles

"Tex didn't get a lot of the ball, but when he did he was really classy and smart. He's been working on what he does at the fall of the ball, and he really impacted the game with his running patterns. We threw him on-ball late to try to make a difference, and he won a few clearances and was really good."

I don't think Gav got a lot of the ball most games, but what he did with the ball 99% of the time was just silk magic.
Tex could be the same.

Too bad he also cost us 4.2 because he is too raw to get the defensive side yet.
Like him and what he may be but there is no way I am seeing him at AFL level when his weak spot is also the teams weak spot.

Interesting that both Jones and Wanganeen are having ankle issues after having a foot problem in the same foot in the last 12 months. 🤔

Forward Tex Wanganeen will also be conservatively managed after sustaining an ankle injury in the same VFL game [against Port Melbourne].

After missing the VFL Dons’ Anzac Day game against Collingwood, Wanganeen will likely miss one more week.

“Young Tex has a little bit of ankle impingement,” Murphy said.

“It’s the same side he had with the navicular (injury sustained last year). We’re just making sure we get that right and it’s very much a no-risk policy for him.

“He’s back up running, but he’ll probably miss this week and then be available the following week.”
