looks like he has earn't his spot the old fashion way
this is indicative of our terrible leadership rn. Mini hasn't had the guts to make any real changes to the team. Now everyone thinks we are out of finals contention, he starts to experiment. Sends a terrible message to the team. Bauer and Banks could equally have debuted a fortnight ago and the narrative would be very different.

Works both ways though, especially after that Essendon loss. The majority of us thought our season was already shot. This narrative you speak of would have meant we lose Trent's 300th by playing the youth. Nothing wrong with the leadership at the club.

bit harsh, firstly everyone thought we were out of finals contention from his first game, we had 11 players injured throughout most of his 5 matches, if you keep losing week after week the whole club loses confidence, 3 wins out of 5 against some pretty good opposition with 3 of them on the road is pretty damn good by Mini under the circumstances.

I mean, we beat Sydney this week and we'll be one win outside of the 8 coming up against eagles and hawks. Finals is not done and dusted, nor is the flag. I maintain LoungeLizard level of optimism.

Point is more that Mini hasn't really done anything different to date, and it is disappointing that it happens knee-jerk after a smashing. Everything seems reactive rather than proactive.

Fair enough but is it knee jerk or because we lost one or two players with injury? Personally I think these boys 1st senior games was timed beautifully, they have both earnt the spot not a charity game to give youth a chance and a first game at the G is a nice way to begin.

I wont bag Mini, he has taken over what is a very difficult roll with zero notice and so far has done okay, having said that I don't care if he wins the flag this year he should still be required to go through the same processes as any other coach applying for the permanent role, we want the best that is out there and if that's Mini then he has my support 100%.

I don't think Mini and the match committee have suddenly changed tact at all. Banks has been next in line for weeks, and injury has finally given him that opportunity.

With Bauer we're trying something new because our marking targets up front haven't been good enough.

Really looking forward to this kid being rewarded for a long run of good form at VFL level. He is another one of the new generation that has a good mix of speed and skill. Not expecting to see him come in and take the game by the scruff, just come in, play to his strengths and do what he has been doing at VFL level. Opportunity is there for this to be a launch into the 2024 season where he can get a good 6+ games under his belt and understand what it required to become a best 22 player moving forward.

If this bloke establishes himself as a best 22 player, he probably ends up captaining Tasmania.

He's from a town of 70 people. Very 1st training session the club unveiled the 5 recruits we had a group of screaming teenage groupies next to us. Wouldn't shut up how attractive they thought he was... Looks like the dead guy from fast n furious Yada Yada. He establishes himself he'll be fighting em off with a stick or latch onto a quality Vic girl who'll have zero desire to go to that frozen wilderness.

He'll be going nowhere. How many players has the club lost in 20 years that they didn't want to? Ottens? Deledio? Can't think of many. Bet the kid loves Melbourne and all the excitement it has to offer over the annual B& S ball where half the girls are relatives.

Not expecting much. But very much wanting to see him play. Could be anything this kid. If we can get him bulked up a bit and comfortable in the AFL he has the tools to be very good. And a great attitude from what has been said - which is even more important than physical or football skill to a good career.

Why does everyone think we re out of finals contention , the omitted players have been playing like garbage , it won’t be too hard to exceed their output and without their opponent shredding us , we’re likely already winning , piss poor post
