My point is, Cyril didn't have to have a huge amount of stats to influence a game whilst being on $600K per year. Some may say Tippa is overrated too.

I used to be in the Cyril is overrated camp, But Tippa has changed my opinion on that, These guys swing games in moments, They create momentum, Imagine Tippa in a consistent top 4 team.

Agree. They don't need massive stats to positively influence or win you a game.

Tippa is above average in tackles and goals, that'll do me.

Cyril got the benefits off an absolute gun midfield and stud hawthorn lineup. He was made to look a lot better than he actually was.

In regards to Tippa compared to 600K i would say hes overrated too. If we sign him for it then so be it. All i'm saying is he needs to be way more consistent to deserve it.

I hate Hawthorne as much as the next person but come on..

i hate them too - but i'm happy to admit they were a gun team.

though Cyril was absolutely overrated. Won a norm smith with 18 touches and 2 goals rofl.....wasn't even in the top 5 players on the ground.

but i digress....

Why not? We’d delist him in a heartbeat if he was unable to meet the standards we require of him
I get the point you're trying to make. I'll answer your question. He might not walk because he is happy at the club, happy with where he sees the team in 3-4 years, happy with his coaches and other players, the clubs facilities etc so money might not be the only factor in a decision. Depends on the person. We've seen numerous players take less money to stay at their club or choose a certain club when moving. Recent examples Gaff, Coniglio, Shiel, Lynch. The point is if he is purely money driven we might not have anyway of matching the highest offer for him due to our salary cap situation and he will walk. I hope it's not the case.

Always knew he was going to re-sign but good to hear it finally got/is getting done. Tippa is one of the best x-factor players in the game. He has often singlehandedly won us games off his own boot. Those types of players you retain.

So you'd let him walk to another club and not match it if another team offered 600k?

Personally i think he's totally worth 600k over 3 to 4 years and we haven't seen his best yet due to having an inconsistent midfield, revolving door forward line and scrappy entries often putting it on his head, aswell as making him chase way more than required defensively due to our bad lock in pressure...

I'd personally like to see him freed up a bit on the outside in the midfield or protected even as his field kicking and distribution is arguably top 5...

600k all day...
And with the caveats you've put on viewing his form this year he has still pulled out a career best season. Therefore, his upside could be immense with his best yet to be seen.

i dunno.....im unsure how tight our cap is after we brought it Smith, Stringer Saad, Shiel etc

but these stats dont seem worthy of 600k - 650k.

If we pay it, then he needs to provide way more consistency - i just think theres a bit more emotion in it rather then what hes actually worth.
Doesn't show ground ball gets, crumbs or goal assists. The hardball gets! The pressure acts!

$600k for a premium small forward is reasonable. Dogs paid Crameri $450k a year when he signed 5-6 years ago

Would have thought that’s a pretty thrifty outcome given the alternative is that he leaves and then they have to rebuild Tullamarine because I burn it to the ground

Hell, if the insurance payout is big enough Xav might even help you with the matches.
