It’ll be same message from the club in the first 8 weeks ‘ we just need to play better’ then after the season is completed done in round 18 they’ll roll out the ‘the injuries crippled us’ narrative like Melbourne.

Melbourne overplayed the injury card massively. In general a lot players who weren’t even injured just had poor seasons or didn’t improve. Ie brayshaw, petracca and weideman. I think they massively over achieved in '18 we'll see how they go this year after the 'biggest preseason' ever.

They kept trying to play Brayshaw on the outside, where he's terrible.

Melbourne are a funny one, I think their list is OK albeit somewhat imbalanced, but that Goodwin is likely just not a very good coach.

From their 2018 Best and Fairest top 10, Harmes, Jones, McDonald, Melksham, Jetta and Lewis either had an interrupted pre-season or missed quite a few games through injury or both. As well as having May, their big recruit, injured throughout pre-season as well as Jake Lever, captain Viney and another comfortable best 22 player in Fritsch. That's a significant chunk of your best side, as well as fringe players like Hannan and Vandenberg missing chunks in there.

Finally, an injury update. Minor thing, bit of calf tightness. Integrating back into training in the next two weeks.

“‘Walla’ (McDonald-Tipungwuti) on Monday a week ago felt some tightness in his calf during training and struggled for the next couple of days.

“We did get an MRI scan which showed a very minor injury to his soleus muscle and we only expect him to out for a short period. He actually had his first run today, so should be integrating back (into main training) within the next fortnight.”

Pressure was very good and would have kicked a few if he had better delivery inside 50. My only gripe with him is his constant slipping over at crucial moments

Hey all,
I'm putting together some season 2019 highlight reels for a bunch of Essendon players in the coming weeks so I thought I'd post them here. Obviously this is delayed but I figured with no footy going on at the moment you all might be interested and I have some unexpected free time on my hands. I did this in 2016 a few years ago as well if anyone remembers.

Planning on making videos for McDonald-Tipungwuti, Merrett, Heppell, Shiel, McGrath, Stringer, McKenna, Parish, Langford, Fantasia and probably a couple of others I haven't decided on, if there are any requests I'm open.

If you'd like to subscribe, my channel is here, it would be much appreciated: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwlfLRnEgIdb_bnsm9YtURw

Test for this week. So not likely to be anything super serious.

Head of medical services David Rundle said the club would assess Dyson Heppell (foot) and Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti (ankle) later in the week ahead of Sunday’s clash.

“Towards the end of match-play (on Saturday), 'Walla' (McDonald-Tipungwuti) came down heavily on his ankle and rolled his ankle. He was in quite a deal of pain initially, and we put him in a boot and crutches over the rest of the weekend just as a precaution.

“He has pulled up well and we’ll get an idea of how he’s looking for this weekend when he has our main session later in the week and look to test him then.”
