Not familiar with the details but sounds like you're describing a case of mistaken identity in a single instance ie. an error rather than an unfair policy. Why be afraid of divergent opinions and theories. I believe the difference is healthy - it’s the intolerance which is unhealthy.
Flip the argument for a moment - isn’t there a shit load we virtually all agree on. Our complex society functions very well because on the important facts we agree. And reality itself prevents disagreement.

What’s outside of that is uncertain. And It is the certainty some people insist must not be challenged about uncertain issues which are the problem not the doubt we may have.

Religious nuts and political ideologues want to shut down alternative views. But both religion and politics is by its very definition unresolved and uncertain.

Go back pre tv 65 years ago, vehement 'disagreement' is in the words the press would shape, an equivalent to the show, but there is much more they like about one another. Albanese may well have been a Trot' in his Uni years, but the 'wish to fight Tories' is a show and he in no way is after constant revolution innit.
