Some of them like Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney care, but are in no longer in any position to do anything. I'm not sure the party will pivot away from being ultra-conservative post-election though. Too many have gone all-in with Trump, and even once he's gone, will take years to clean up the mess.

This in lies the biggest issue for the GOP, this approach works against Biden but not against a fresh opponent. If he doesn't change tack and bring something new, the electorate will tune out and focus on the shiny new candidate.

the other issue being the Harris/Walz ticket are bringing a fresh hopeful positive enthusiasm, which makes the standard Trump anger, doom, gloom rhetoric look really old and stale to voters. He's a one trick pony though and he wont be able to pivot to something more positive; negative gibberish and talking about himself is all he knows.
