Player Watch #46: Robert Hansen Jnr - Extends to End 2025

I’d love to see his GPS numbers because man he seems to cover the ground and with relative ease.

The way he covers the ground and uses the ball actually reminds me a lot of Brad Hill.
He was bloody everywhere! Must have been involved in 4 or 5 goals, but would bob up in D50 regularly. Loved his game.

I thought he was really good, showed some speed, was at the drop of the ball, did some really good things, the best crumbing indigenous smaller forward we have put on the books since... god knows, LT?

I don't think he has the same upside as LT but who cares, we need people who can play up forward and have impact.

I don't think that was a cat like moment. He didn't take his eyes off the ball running back for the mark or even flinch, it was just a difficult ball to locate.
It looked worse on the replay, with commentators pushing that line.
Live I just thought he didn’t quite get to the ball as well as he looked like he would. Wasn’t much to criticize.

He's backing himself in with a new found level of confidence I havent seen before.
Breaking and shrugging tackles as well, which is something our forwards haven't had.
The amount of times he slipped his opponent and then dished off a pass to a teammate, I'd say he's a lock in the forward line now and the side.

Today about 5 things happened
Charlie clunking stopped the usual 3-5 goal run ons
LDU smashing the one on ones and then making them pay
This meant Powell and Parker have a bit of space to be creative
And Curtis That was seriously impressive
So Hansen is getting the worst defender
And when he is teaming with Jy and Harry he is passing to advantage Nearly Every Time
He looks a real talent Northball here we come

Never bought into the need for specialist “small pressure forwards” because anyone can fill the need provide they have the willingness and fitness to play the role.

But can’t see a forward line without him and Konstanty now. Both covered a lot of ground, Konstanty with extra hustle and RHJ the extra creativity.

He still lacks that 5% of speed and/or composure to be an out and out jet. Hopefully it will come with some more development.

We found another one here.
He is getting better and better and growing with confidence. His skills and vision are outstanding. 10 AFL games and already delivering in one of the hardest positions to play. Sit back and watch this bloke explode onto the scene this year. Exciting.

15 touches again this week. Same as round 1.
Went at 87%.

Last week was 93%.

Cannot underestimate how valuable this is for a bloke who plays forward of centre.

This is why we are noticing his impact.
Reckon the 87% is for that kick that went OOF that had the right idea just ran out of space.

Building.
