Its just great to see him reach this milestone. Has been an integral part of our club for over a decade now. Is actually well suited to the modern game with his elite endurance and those nice goals he kicked last week were fantastic.

Congratulations to him, was the heart and soul of our midfield for years, was booed by many of our supporters for a few years which was really horrible to see. Fantastic achievement.

Please FM..
This is one of those bullshit AFL urban myths that has some how gained so much momentum that any opposition supporter just throws it out there as fact..
We all love Stants, great servant..

Yeah..wasn't booed for years ffs.

If you actually look into it it was one moment during a game and it wasn't even him getting booed.

Urban myth..bad journalism..storm in a teacup.

I'll salute and respect any player who reaches 250 league games. You don't get there without doing something right.

That's about it from me.

Cheers,
SH

He was booed in that one game, yes, but aside from that he's also been slammed by many supporters both on here and at the games. I hear it all the time.

Has some ****ing stanton moments but so great to see him back in the team and im sure not being a focal point in our midfield will reduce them moments i dont think anyone really dislikes him or is disappointed when he gets selected and the "booing" game wasn't that a cheer for monfries getting subbed on ?

he seems to have eradicated those moments. i dont remember the last time he kicked into the mark or tried an overly ambitious pass. His pass 4-5 years have been rather solid outings.

I agree with that i can't remember either but it seems like every little fumble or kick that doesn't go as planned sticks out like dogs balls they are hardly big **** ups anymore

Hooker kicked into the man on the mark when shooting for goal on Saturday.
Nothing made of it. Was a pretty critical moment too. it happens.

By the end of the season he may well be almost or actually equal with Lloyd and Lucas.

My point was that it's pretty incredible that he'll be that high up in that played game list. He's just kind of snuck up there.

Away with your wet blanketness.
Oh, ok. THAT post you use the reply button.

But seriously, he will finish quite high won't he. He's been pretty resilient. Add another 20 games to whatever he finishes on as in reality he would have played most of last year as well.

Getting the number 5 was the worst thing to happen to him (apart from the drug saga, or being booed). When Hird handed Stanton his number, it's like everyone expected Stanton to be another Hird. It's a Shane Warne and any new spinner that comes into the Australian squad, people expect Warne to continue vicariously through the next spinner, when in actual fact, Stanton is a good player, just as Nathan Lyon is a good spinner.

Snuck up there? He's been well known for having played a lot of games for his age for most of his career - up with Deledio and Gibbs, etc.

Shame he might not make 300 because of the saga.

Again...no one was booing him. He was having a bad game and he was subbed off. Some people bronx cheered because they thought would be the end of some turnover football. Poor form still by the few that did it.

Anyway Stanton is a gun and a better good bloke than Hodgey. He deserves all good things that come his way. Congratulations on 250..bring on 300.

Indeed, but not feted in the same way many of those other names on that list are.
