Hi guys

Just wondering if anyone is going in to the season with 5 strong premium MID's

I feel that if you do go in with this strategy, it can really push you up the ranks early, provided that whichever end ( FWD BACK) has the lighter of the players holds up for enough rounds to gain cash and warrant an upgrade.

If so, who are your 5 premiums

It doesn't work because it's harder to find the points from cheapies in other areas of the ground.

I think you can go as low as 2 premium mids and still be well off as long as you don't get any shit scores at all from your backs, forwards and rucks.

Picking 5 premium mids just blocks your upgrade paths and forces you to play non quality rookies on other lines.

I disagree.

I have a 5 mid prem set up and i am only starting 6 rookies on the field which is about the average. 2 in the backs, 1 mid, 1 ruck and 2 forwards.

If you pick the right 5 prems to start, it shouldn't matter about upgrading, it just means you only have 1 spot to finish off your mids, which is fine really if you are confident in your starting 5.

I would show you my team so it is more clear, but i am waiting for lockout before i reveal my team.

So you're going midpricers.

I don't consider midpricers at all sorry. It's not something that I see the value in.

If I stuff up my rookie selections I will swap to others. I don't even see it as risky, I just see it as how you play the game.

Not revealing my team until lockout, for obvious reasons.

I have spent a bit of money on them yes.

Im sure everyone can't wait! Everyone wants to see your team

Aren't you a funny guy!

Has nothing to do with that, i have gone with a few unique picks/structure and don't want noobs coming in the last minute and stealing it (which is what happens at this time of the year).

I am sure if you have ever finished a high rank you would know how important your starting team is ;).

I won the car last year?

Na, finished in the top 1000 but.

I had 5 up until this morning. They were Pendles, Ablett, Thompson, Stanton and Gibbs. My ruck premo was Jacobs and 3 rooks.

In the end I decided I wanted Cox. That sounds bad doesn't it?

Now I have 4 premo mids(only 3 of the 5 I originally had) and a mid pricer.

Really I just wanted to know your pricing structure.

What do you call a premium mid?

For me they all cost $500k+ and need to average at least 105.

Can't speak for others, but 4 of my 5 premium mids are +$500k, then there's Jobe Watson @ $492k. I believe he is underpriced, and should still be considered a premium.

Watson, Montagna, A Swallow, Bartel, Hodge, Mundy, Cotchin, Barlow, Hayes are all under 500k and ALL of them are capable of averaging 105+ this year.

By having 5 premo mids you limit a bit of your cash intake. However the other side of the coin is the SD of premium mids and the durability of premium mids is far greater than any other position and with that low SD they are bloody hard to get in and cost a bucket load.
