Simply put, JB is a front man. A talking head and nothing more. There is no real brain behind the words, only an empty vessel with a pleasing countenance. Despite it being obvious to all and sundry that he is a puppet of his brother's keener intellect, JB remains popular among Norf posters largely out of their sheer abject fear that to 'abandon' their leader and admit his (many) shortcomings would be to throw away their club's last gasp chance to survive in its present form.

There's nothing wrong with that, provided you have good people in behind you, and you take their advice...

As you mentioned the problem with front men is they need some pretty smart blokes backing them up or they just come off looking stupid - George Bush anyone? Though even Bush had Karl Rove working behind the scenes to get him re-elected.
JB does a fine job purely as a figurehead, unfortunately Norf have been stupid enough to hand him the reigns to do as he wants and as has been evident for a long time he plainly has no idea when it comes to the business side. That's where Arrocca was no doubt of huge assistance and why Norf's farcically-long search for a CEO is extremely troubling.

I really should post a Bay13 poll asking the question "who is the AFL's worst performing club president?" because I'm pretty certain JB would win in a landslide.

Despite what these Norf flogs would desperately like to have us believe -that it's only a handful of posters like TMB, griff & myself who think JB is a muppet- the reality is that since becoming president his failures have been numerous and widely noticed by supporters of all clubs.
Let's face it, if it was any other club JB would've been kicked out years ago but the sad truth is Norf has nobody else willing to challenge this idiot for the job. It's a terribly sad state of affairs and I'm sure it must drive Norf supporters crazy (just look at Arjen) having to defend this buffoon again and again.

There's a simple solution guys. Ring up your club and demand they sack JB immediately and replace him with someone competent. If enough members do that I'm sure the board will take notice!

An honest answer Bosk, if possible : when JB took on the job 5 years ago, and North rejected the GC option, did you predict the club would not survive another 2 years in the AFL?

There's a lot of parallel's between JB's presidency and having a myspace page. Sure, 5 years ago it was necessary and a good idea, but now it's useless, serving no purpose at all, and anyone with half a brain would have moved on to something better already.

I think there's a very appropriate balance of JB incompetence and Griffy obsession that keeps the Norf vs anti-Norf shitfights amusing, far better reading than the repetitively boring hawks vs cats, and SA ones.

Everytime a Norf fan claims JB saved Norf from relocating they are claiming otherwise and attributing far too much to him. In fact, he just likes to play golf and have Chairman/President on his business card. He has done nothing but joke around with his boys club and frustrate / isolate the competent business people Norf do have.

But Norf fans can't get their tongues out of his arseh*le.
