marlion-pickett-umpires-and-the-mro-what-is-going-on-here.1306333

I started this thread about Pickett and the MRO on the umpiring and rules board after Pickett copped the fine for Butler taking a dive. This is the 3rd occasion where Pickett has copped unfair treatment from the MRO imo, with the first two cases dissected carefully on that thread.

It is beginning to look like a pattern. 😩

under new guidelines high bumps draw medium impact despite the actual physical impact being low.

Another reason why I have boycotted going to AFL games since the stand rule came in.

The sport is a joke now and we won't get it back until people vote with their feet.

This wasn't high - that will be our argument

So you're telling me they only looked at one angle? I guess there were like 5 other incidents to look over, it must be hard to fit that into a busy schedule of being a totally incompetent fool 24/7

Both angles playing in sync would show that he didn't hit him high. It's just the momentum of body turn/impact. The bump gets his leg/hip first and his body is thrown off.

If we don't appeal this ,then we should all hand back our funking memberships
Then if the campaigners at afl still suspend ,him we should sue them for racism
Bunch of funking pricks the afl
That would just hurt the club, the afl don’t make money off the fans anymore it’s all about the tv rights

Then we must appeal then ,back Marlion all the way ,to the supreme court, or the high court

I mean did they test for it though? Aren't they suppose to test after any serious head knock?

Presuming they didn't..says something about it not being a head knock in the first place.
He did go down stairs into the room, not sure if he was tested or not

Only way to get off is if the Hawks medical team say the contact wasn’t high but was assessed because of the potential whiplash of the incident. Whiplash can cause concussion without a head knock.

If it the contact was high, there’s no way out on the new grading rule. And it looks like there might have been some level of high contact on the front on vision but inconclusive for me unless the player and hawks tell us one way or the other.

WTF careless, it's what you do when you shepherd, lay a hip and shoulder. Pickett does not jump off the ground, shoulders tucked in.
Even Buckley on Fox Footy said it was a good bump, which it was.

I don't know what footage you guys are all looking at, it's clearly high contact

I wish it wasn't, but I think some biases are showing

That's what I'm looking at, there is no bias, first impact shoulder to shoulder, feet planted on the ground. Upon impact, Moore's body dips and his shoulder blade gets him on side of his face. This is low impact. Hardly careless when the sole intention is to lay a shepherd for your teammate.

The Player Moore gets up and plays on. No concussion. We have been taught to lay a shepherd to protect our teammate going for the ball.

That clearly shows Marlion's shoulder making contact to Moore's head
You can see his cheek, right next to the shoulder
Some Yellow & Black glasses being worn in here

if byron pickett played wokefl he would be out suspended for 22 games every year

Lol read what I wrote upon impact Moores body dips. So what happens when taking a big mark and the knee smashes someone's head and splits it wide open? The bottom line is he wasn't hurt, played on for the rest of the match and that should be classified as low impact. And that's what we should be challenging.

My question is what is the AFL saying.
Pickett's bump is not ok but Dangerfield's whack on Tigger is cool
Don’t think Pickett should cop a week but never really understood the point of comparing incidents from different years, The rules and interpretations change every years so it’s a moot point

Moore's body dipping is irrelevant, if you choose to bump, you must ensure that you don't make contact with the head, doesnt matter what the other player does.
Normally I'd agree with you about the impact call, but if new guidelines are that any high bumps are automatically categorised as Medium, then you've already lost the argument.

no brainer how to fix this....ask moore FFS

if he says he felt no head contact-pickett gets off

if he says he felt slight head contact but main impact was to upper arm/lower neck-pickett a fine

if he says he felt the same solid head, neck and upper arm contact-pickett a week

get the club doctor to have a little bit of input as well
he would know if it was direct head contact or just a bit of Whiplash from a solid body bump.

what are shambles the AFL has become

I’m confused by the commentary where they say he runs past the ball to bump which seems to be the first trigger for making a report
Upon watching he does what all players should do in laying a perfect shepherd to allow his teammate to gather and dispose of the ball
He doesn’t overrun the ball just to pick Moore off he does it to protect his teammates
