Would tell him he's dropped the ashes, but he couldn't get a hand on them. They're already retained
Come on mate - Australia may have retained the Ashes, but Bazball is the real winner here. Am I doing it right?

Who the f**k asks for a review for a dropped catch?

If only that ball was a little more scuffed and had a tiny bit more grip.

That's touch and go, and we would be spitting venom if that had gone against an Australian fielder.
He did control the ball and arguably himself, but not the release (which is not the Law). Its quite different to the Starc one, where it was grassed while trying to regain control of his own motion.

I guess smacking yourself in the leg when attempting to throw the ball in celebration is not full control of your own movement, so "not out" is probably correct. Either way one set of fans would be fuming at a grey area interpretation of the Laws.

I wouldn't say Starc's was grassed. It touched the grass, but unlike Stokes he always had the ball in his hand. Stokes just flat out lost his grip on the ball. Dropped catch plain and simple and not even comparable really. I'd say Gibbs was more of a catch than Stokes.

I'd love to see Smith hit the winning runs, and complete his century at the same time.
After incorrectly not being given out with Poms having no reviews left.

Difficulty here is they'll get their third new ball in 20 overs or so.

We'll need to have significantly closed the difference by then if we want this.

But that ball will be a 2023 ball. I am convinced that replacement was from around 2019 when they used different leather and more pronounced seam and it was way better for bowling.

I've read Hazlewood say that in a 2015 game against NZ he plucked a replacement ball out that he reckoned looked like a 2008 ball, and was much harder and he got a wicket with extra bounce. Those boxes can have balls from a large span of years.

He didn’t even have two feet on the ground yet.
