Ultimately they played to win the series, we played not too lose. Somehow in a draw it feels like they were more successful

Agree somewhat with the first sentence, but not the second. When you have home series advantage you should be winning, especially in modern test cricket.

It only feels that way because over time Australia have rightly built up higher expectations of themselves than the English have.

If Stokes is serious about "saving test cricket" then he should use his platform and status to publicly call for more equitable funding for the other five major test nations and a proper FTP with 3 test series as a minimum.
