JD still only has the tank to be 100% effective for half a game.So it's important that he gets value for his effective time. Next year he will be good for three quarters and a full game in 2016.

Havana Finey! Giving shit to a Swans fan who has wasted 50 years following footy. Who says Swans fans have any idea about footy?

Still early days.. but those two marks tonight just give me goosebumps.. special.

You just know he is going to be a player.. and if he can kick 2 goals a game.. for 30-50 for the season.. then he will have done more than enough for his second year..

Even though he has like 20 cm on McMahon, his marks back with the flight were awesome. :thumbsu:

Had Thompson for most of the game, who to be fair, is still giving away probably 12 cms on him.

Scotty's a good player, was pleased joe made him accountable so he couldn't do his own thing

The two marks were great.

I still saw a lot of things that he needs to improve on last night. (YES I know he is a kid etc. I know that this is expected and he is tracking along really nicely). He has a great jump/hands yet too easily he gets pushed off the ball/drops marks when there is pressure on him/gets pushed off the ball drop zone/is out of position in the forward 50/doesn't lead at the right times.

He will develop into a great player and if we get 30 goals from him this year I'll be really happy but we can't seriously challenge for a flag IMO until he is ready and that is still two years away.

How good was his youthfulness? smiling after dat mark? Seems like he genuinely enjoys playing football, for the love of the game and not just as a full time job.

Just like in his 18 days, he will be prone to the good game (last night) but then next week he will go bang and kick a bag or go severely missing.

Still need to be patient and wait for that consistency to come from a mature 60 - 80 game player.

Signs are ominous though, could be anything

When he took that mark and hurt Carlisle, i had to chuckle that he was yelling "COME ON!" and high fiving Carlisle as he hobbled from the field

Funny watching the game on TV, Marty Gleeson couldn't contain his excitement for Joe when he sat down next to the kid.

Just watched a replay of the game and immediately had to come here to tell you I think I have a new favorite player. His courage for a first gamer was incredible to watch. Haven't seen anyone since brown run back with the flight and crash packs so often. Kid is fearless!! Beautiful to watch I envy you Essendon fans, have a real superstar on your hands!

Not his first game, but the rest of your points are valid.

amazing.

second one's better, but on further inspection, Joe fending off Thompsons attempted roundhouse to the neck with one arm while he pulls it down with the other might just put it over the top

I think that JD has shown lots of consistency in his short career to date. He can always get his hands on the ball when he rucks around the ground. You'll find that his output will be higher in the first half, than in the second half for the next two years.
