In the space of a few weeks we have had Logan is about to re-sign.

A few days later, from the same journalist, actually Hawthorn and Collingwood are still in the mix and he isn't about to re-sign.

Then it was between us and Freo.

Then apparently Logan re-signed last week.

Now it is between us and Collingwood.

The state of AFL journalism ...

At this point I don't even know if his real name is Logan McDonald

"Poaching, not drafting: Collingwood set intentions for raid on Swan Logan McDonald"

“We don’t intend to go to the bottom of the ladder, so we can never really rely on the draft,” Browne said.

Brave ...

Its very interesting, two different reporters are saying two different things.

I have heard from a few people that Logan's contract is essentially signed, just ironing out a few smaller details.

I also don't think we would take Collingwood's two future firsts, now would they be allowed to trade them out as they would be three seasons without a first round pick.

My favourite part of the discussion last night on Fox about the completely hypothetical non-story of Logan going to Collingwood, was when Scott Gullan started musing that one of the problems with getting a trade done is that our first round pick this year is going to be quite late and get pushed out further by bids.

The two other dudes then reminded him that Collingwood would be the ones giving up picks, not us.

I agree, I don't think he is going anywhere. And the story last night was just hypothetical speculation poorly disguised as a news report.

But I think if it came to pass that he requested a trade to Collingwood, we would probably accept two future 1sts as they have nothing else to offer. I am sure they would find a way to get the AFL to let them do it.

Honestly - I think a northern team needs to be prepared to call a bluff on this type of crap and send someone seriously good to PSD.

What would be the point?

If Collingwood had something really good to offer and were holding out, then there might be a point. Two picks in the teens isn't nothing.

That said, I think Logan will re-sign soon.

Those teen picks add 5+ on both with NgA, academy etc and that’s at best. Rubbish deal.

Logan will resign anyway non fussed

It would be irrelevant if we think it is not a good deal. They have nothing else to offer.

You can trade up to 3 years (that will come in) in the future and yes they do, start with Ed Allen who we were interested in.

Do the Pies have a salary cap?

Had room last year and missed out on Dodee and with Cox & Murphy being subtractions from that at the end of the year there’s plenty of money for a shiny new toy or 2

Honestly if he did, it would not surprise me if it was the first trade that went to trade mediation run by the AFL.

We aren't going to want to strengthen one of the other teams contending against us, plus West Coast would be looming in the PSD, so wouldn't surprise me if we just held our ground.

For what though? They can't invent a selection that they don't have.

Unless one of their players wanted to come to us, it would just be a waste of time.

Must be nice to line up some third party deals I guess

Three first rounders they have, package them and then they can come back to us. Minimum is a top 8 pick.

He won't leave anyway, he's by all reports happy and thrilled being in sydney and why wouldn't you

That's the issue here.

We won't accept a trade that they can offer.

He would be going into the pre-season draft.
