There's almost nobody trumpeting Lennon on this board. Big difference saying somebody is not quite good enough, or suited to the football we are playing, which it seems he isn't, to somebody saying delist the trash.
And no we (the majority) would not look at a trade, nor I think will anyone else. But he deserves some respect either way.

There were plenty early on .... and still quite a few now.
I hoped he did make it, you can't afford to have first round draftees' careers peter out after four/five seasons and 20 games, but I have suspected for a good few years that it wasn't going to work out.

HERE'S a scenario to contemplate for Lennon lovers and those who judge everything through black and yellow blinkers.
Let's say Ben had been drafted one spot lower to West Coast, one spot higher to Carlton or another spot higher to GWS and had produced a similar career to that forged at Tigerland and he became available by delisting or as a treade.
Would you be advocating and trumpeting that he be recruited to Richmond?

Yeah probably.

Yes I had hope early, mainly because of his skill set. Hoped he might develop into a mid a bit like Goddard, but that doesn't look likely, especially now he is being played deep forward.

VFL level footballer holding the club to ransom in his 2nd year with SOS holding the psd #1 pick (which by the way was the club he supported)
giving carlton an advantage in the yarran deal whilst getting lennon a nice pay packet.

What has this spud shown in 4 years that makes him deserve another contract that McBean didnt do , Just delist the spud
Menadue,Markov,C.Ellis,Graham.

How long can you carry a player like this have we not learned anything from keeping Elton

You may be right with the fact he won't make it, not with RFC anyway...

But drop the spud shit...

because unless your on an AFL list, he's currently better than you.

Problem is at last try no one else wanted him and there are a number of recent retirees and future draft prospects not on an AFL list that are better than him, he had a chance but didnt take it unfotunate but not uncommon, wish he had made it.

LOL .....................

Relton Roberts & Ben Nason were also AFL listed players

he's a spud
He isn't a spud in that it isn't as if he has horrible skills and has no idea about football. Still done little to date and likely leaves though

Please apply to be the Recruiting Manager................................... at GWS! The only way they will get any weaker!

The talent is there but whether he makes it to the top level has been made harder by the amount of forwards we now have amassed
Good thing is RFC finally seem to have the know how and personal to give these players the best chance to make it
Physical ability is one thing, getting in their heads is another. ..

Townsend until last couple of rounds looked a 2nd tier player...

Just hate how easily some of you disrespect Richmond players

should go to carlspoon for the good of his career. dont hate him or anything but he'd be their best lead up forward. could get senior games all season there with their game plan

doesn't really fit into our team at all into any of our forward or hf positions

He's obviously not a dud - no top-20 draftee is - but it hasn't worked out for him at Richmond. (If we can write 1,000,000+ pages on how 'Dusty Loves The Club!!!', maybe it's possible some players don't love our set-up).

However, there are few top-20 draftees who leave a club because 'it didn't work out for them' and become a star elsewhere. It's probably because those years from age 18-22 are so critical, if they stuff them up (or they get stuffed up). it's a long way back.

Let's check some of ours - Fiora - went to Saints, no better. Pattinson - nope. Tambling, - nope. Polo, Meyer, JON, Vickery, - probably the only one is Schulz (and he wanted to go home, and fair enough, too).

At some point, you have to bite the bullet.

One could say the same about you disrespecting Tigers players.
Venture down to the VFL at all this season???
Townsend has looked more than a second tier player for a lot longer than a few weeks and has dominated that competition, despite being miscast as a protector and inside mid beast for 12 months by us.
