It's kinda disappointing that a guy of his talent hasn't made it, and I still think he could have been given more of a shot, but admittedly he's got zero athletic talent whatsoever. Rookie listing at best and Townsend has passed him massively. He showed more hustle when he laid that tackle on Crouch in the grand final than Lennon has in his whole career. Kicks goals, links up in the play, plays with intensity, has athleticism to make it and is only one centimeter shorter. It's clear IMO Townsend's last few weeks have killed Ben's career.

It'd be interesting to see if he's picked up at all.

A little bit surprised. I think he'll be picked up.

Would it have made a difference if he kicked that goal in the VFL grand final??

And to think people in this thread had a crack at me when I said we would look to trade ben and if no trade then he was told he'd be delisted.
One bloke even questioned if I was a real Richmond supporter.... keep on keeping on champ!

I was with you :thumbsu:
Got the same mail you did .... and what's more it was the right and sensible call.
Found out by our quick game plan and the game will only get quicker!

Lennon to me was a bit like Lance Whitnall in that he had a lot of skill but not the athletic ability (perhaps not as good). I always thought Whitnall was a generation or 2 too late. Even worse for Lennon. All the best to the young man.

CLEAR example of player with silky skills and a great kick who thrived in the TAC Cup system, where there is no tagging, zone defence, flooding etc. and players easily find space. At AFL level where space is at a premium and you are subject to two-on-ones etc he can't get it done. Won't be the first or last. I reckon Schache is finding the same out and will struggle like Ben.

Yep well said, I was sucked in watching his draft highlights , he really showed nothing at senior level, save for a wet night in 2015 , good luck to him, hope he can add a trick or two and salvage his career
