probably showing my cluelessness here, but I thought Cunnington showed very little apart from an ability to get to the ball in congestion. Disposal nothing to be excited about at all. the guys he did hit cleanly were under pressure the second the pill hit their palms.

Ziebell and Harper impressed tonight out of the youngsters, wth Swallow Wells as support is good. Basti was okay and Levi and Patch will be better.
Mullet Speight and Atley provide good speed but need to do more. Cunners will only improve.
Disapointed with LAs performance, Lachy was Lachy and LT i thought had gotten rid of the yips but well never know at this time yet.
BTW Ziebell is a boss. Love him.

Harsh. Those two did well from limited opportunity.

Agree hope we can cover Ziebell who looked fantastic last night. The first up game Vs the Dons is massive for us, we have them, Geelong and Swans (away) in the first 4 weeks i think.

Cant wait to see how he goes this year being able to run out games for a full season. Just loved that running long goal! But yes for mine this Essendon game is freaking huge for us and well no Z'bull and perhaps Wells - 2 of our best. Even if Wells does play its uncertain how he'll go, interviewed yday he said the shoulder hasnt allowed the weight work he'd usually do and of course no contact.

We need to be up and out of the blocks fast this year.

Without doing an OS 'full analysis', which I hope to do, I hold a similar impression. I would add that he also gets it out from congestion, but beyond that I'm not seeing anything that makes me sit up and get excited... yet.

Jz will be missed greatly first 2 rounds. Cunners is doing his job, simply put get the ball to the outside runners. Harper looks a year ahead of where he should be. All in all take 10 mins out and it wasnt a bad night, round 1 NAB cup is never going to be slick.

I just hope those first two games don't cost him the Brownlow. I doubt it though. He'll win it by more than 6 votes regardless.

Oh and... how good is Jack Ziebell?

He's looking better all the time, quite obviously has taken massive confidence out of the back of last season. Hits targets, hits bodies, can roost the ball a mile, takes big grabs.

Takes no sh*t from anyone. Saw on the replay when he took down Maric who decided to stuff his hand into Jack's face and enjoyed watching jack get well and truly stuck into him. He's quite honestly going to be a bully on the field. Glad he's ours.

Oh, and PS to that. How much of an example will he be with the effort he puts in on the track to the other young players. That is massive extra value in itself.

Ziebell = shivers up spine.

He has that confidence, calmness, time and space to do whatever he likes. I loved his goal to start the second half against Richmond - he knew exactly where he needed to be to capitalise and slotted it from 48 out at full tilt with someone on his hammer. Magic.

I have a feeling that this year, we will see a number of games where, late in the piece and with the game on the line, Ziebell will produce a burst that will determine the outcome. Pure class.

And elevation in tents!

He's definitely lost his "puppy fat" completely now. Looks AFL fit after putting in a huge season last year.

He'll be champing at the bit to get stuck into some G-Town onballers in round 3.

We'll certainly need him then!

I think its stupid that Ziebell has to sit out the first two real season games where (if he's given weeks) Conca can use some of the NAB cup toward his suspension.

Fair enough Ziebells was in the season proper but a games a game, why cant Ziebs sit out the next 2 NAB games.

Here's an even worse comparative example.

Say Drew Petrie was allowed to serve his suspension for bumping Darren Milburn in the NAB cup at the start of 2011. He wasn't, and had to miss round 1. We lost, and if he'd played, we probably would've won.

was thinking about the Petrie bump. what the hell is the go with this conca exception then?

what a load of shit, its all or nothing. Last years should roll over, or if you dont do that, then don't offer it for NAB cup ones. damn we got the short end of the stick with that one.

Happy 21st Jack.

Now your opponents can console themselves with the fact they are no longer being mauled and bashed by a boy.:thumbsu:
