He was in the top 10 players in the vfl this year im pretty sure everyone knows what he looks like.

Needs to fix up that haircut straight away, don't want people mixing him up with that specialist thug from Collingwood.
I was gonna say, he looks a lot like Maynard in the head... especially on the side profile of his head, almost could pass as brothers...

He looks more damaging as flanker... Was he very good at clearances and as an inside mid? or more an outside mid/forward that get's goal side and bangs them home

Won the Norm Goss medal in the VFL GF this year in a losing team. Shaun can play and he might just be in the round 1 team. The Cats are very good at picking mature-age recruits. This was a very smart selection. Shows the Cats think they have another tilt at a flag left in them.

Fair call.

Most clubs are afraid to risk drafting a kid outside the standard U/18 route.
Cats are happy to Draft a guy that shows potential from anywhere.
Some kids are late bloomers, previously overlooked Great find by Wells
An instinctive goal kinking midfielder has self belief that can't be taught.
His maturity and poise will add much needed depth to the team immediately.

Hope he's not too kinky.

Then again, we're on a forum watching fit young men run around in minimal clothing, so we can't really talk.

Well his highlights makes me wonder why no one grabbed him for free before
Was wondering the same and then saw he’s 175. Hopefully with his frame and speed it doesn’t matter.

I think that is changing, Watson went at pick 5, I don't imagine Caleb Daniel would have lasted to 46.

You just need something to stand out, there are biomechanical advantages to being a bit smaller.

none of our three small forwards are above 181 which is actually Miers as tallest. Rewatching games you can see all of them kick a few through being smaller either by getting a high free by a taller player with a clumsy tackle or actually ducking through a tackler (Gryan's opening goal against the bombers in his 100th).

However, what they all do have is elite running which allows them to run to open space rather than engage in a marking contest. if Mannagh and Wiltshire for that matter have the capacity to build up their tank in the same way Dempsey is currently doing they're good prospects.

You dont take a 26yo in the second round (even in a weak draft) unless you expect to play finals next year.
Clearly our aim is to play finals next year. But he's less than a year older than Zuthrie and Close. Clearly we want them to contribute beyond the next year or two. If he's good enough he could play 6-7 quality seasons.

In not sure that's strictly true but in this case I think we do expect to
Agree, our 26-30 range will determine our next few years, and hopefully Mannagh can be a star.

We know the kids will be guns, but that's long term. In the short term we need quality through that age range, whether that be to win a flag, or just keep things competitive while the kids are developing.

I don't think this selection is exclusively based on goals for next year. If you see a good footballer, you pick him. Sometimes it's that simple.
