Player Watch #7: Zane Duursma - out for 2024, undergoing shoulder surgery

Let’s just hope his very good is with us and not * as his old man is purported to be telling anyone who will listen
I could understand the old man wanting them to play together, but it doesn't usually work out in the end.
Is this the * 8 year master plan? Finish down the bottom couple this year, draft Willem and attempt to trade for Zane end of 2025 or 2026? But not sure the Demons F1 and F2 would be all that appealing.
Things could get interesting if both Zane and Nate Caddy remain unsigned going into 2026 year, that's for sure.
Viney and the recruiters rate Zane highly, so the price would be set quite highly.

Ben and his brother are amongst some of the highest paid players in the comp. However, I am happy to argue Townies vs Farmers
And it was borderline tragic watching Ben stuff up this year whilst earning 1.3m for his troubles. Townies vs. farmers does seem right up your alley as a wheat/chaff separator though

Country townies are just metro people in an affordable environment. It takes a special unit to run a farm

Theres corporate farms and family farms.

Corporate farms are mostly managed with contractors doing most of the work.

Family farms you sort of have ro be a jack of all trades,

Or have a son who is a mechanic, another who is an electrcian, a boilermaker etc to maintain and operate all the gear

Seems to be a bit of a concern about his build/frame because of the post season surgery.

Ideally yes…you’d like a player like Zane to be a bit bigger but there’s other aspects of his game he needs to continue to get better at.

ie - His overall tank to get up and down the ground. As an extension to that his ability to get to stoppages and marking contests.

Patience everyone….we’ve got a good one.

the usual suspects GIF

Hey Hazey1977, Philips Air fryer is one of the best out there but because money is quite tight for a lot of people at the moment, just get what you can afford, but if your cashed up then the 5000 series model is very good or the Aerofry Air fryer is a beauty, in my opinion they are the top two that stand out but if you just want simple snacks then most will do the job. We've actually got a Anco 3.2 litre Air fryer that my fiancee bought a few years ago and it works great, never had a problem with it.

I heard similar but it was more framed as "his folks would love to see him at the Bombers with his brother one day". From a family friend of theirs who also barracks for the scum. He certainly wasn't suggesting he was angling for it to happen, just thinking how nice it would be to have 2 kids playing for the team he goes for.

Nope he's supremely talented and other teams like Dees, Hawks and Bombers were desperate to get him.
Just a reminder his national champs final - 22 disp, 10 marks, 15 score involvements, 6 score assists and kicked 4.2.
If he gets anywhere close to that at AFL level and can expand into the middle long term, woah boy.
In the biggest game on the Jr footy calendar.

Silkiest player we have had since Wells*.

He made that dribble goal he kicked this year look so easy - I was thinking he would miss it because that is what I have come to expect as a North supporter

* Ignoring Thomas, but if Duursma improves his athleticism will hopefully more than match him.

David Cloke was keen on the same thing but one by one, they were jettisoned from Collingwood and his relationship with the club was irreparably damaged. Be careful what you wish for.

My air fryer packed it in last night actually. Any recommendations for a family of 4? Must produce Chicky Nuggs of the highest quality.

Sent from my SM-G781B using BigFooty.com mobile app
With a family of 4, I would go for a 9L air fryer despite which brand you go for. I have Phillips 3000 Dual Basket XXXL (9L).
You can get one that has a steam function but its extra but may be worth it.

Are there any threads I can open without reading about the player leaving?
The quick and simple answer to this is no. The reason, five years of baron results and confidence at probably around 25%, some people are scarred from this while others can see what's coming and I don't mean hopefully coming, I jest you not, trust me, this is going to be a great time to be alive if your a North Melbourne supporter! ;)

Some of those who are unsure about Duursma , I encourage you to go back and watch some of his great marks and goals in his first AFL season as an example of what he can do. Wait until he fills out a bit and gets a little bit more experience and he will be doing more of this on a regular basis. Plus he has the confidence to pull it off. He will be a match winner you watch. The kid is class and can play
I really don't get the comments about not knowing where he fits in. We lost TT, Duursma looks like he can fit that role beautifully with his smooth skills and general offensive talent - better marker, less defensive/tackling intent. Feel like he's going to be a match winner and in no time will be the sort of player who creates a goal with every touch. I do understand member concerns about his investment in the club, JHF hurt us, and he seems pretty cool on the club publicly. Hoping that's all just his personality and we can make it a place he wants to spend his whole career at. He will be a massive point of difference once he finds his feet.
