Which means that we've had neither the icing nor the cake for a very long timeIts simplistic but a reasonably accurate model to say small forwards are icing not cake but...
I also reckon forward pressure should be described as cake not icing.

Yes. They weren't interested. Not our fault. The last 5 or so years. Not our fault. Nobody is to blame. We have run our football club perfectly. Just a series of bad luck that has seen us neglect or fail to recruit small forwards. Afterall nobody wants to come to us. Apparently. :stern lookAnswer the question if you're such a stickler for truth - were either of those players interested in coming to us?
Story has it we spoke to Membrey and he wanted to wait for a better offer. Darling said yes. That was that. Hard to imagine we'd have wanted both.Answer the question if you're such a stickler for truth - were either of those players interested in coming to us?

Stop with the deflective nonsense Snrubs. As for your questions of "were either of those players interested in coming to us / on our wish list?" the truth is I do not know. However for there to be a relationship there needs to be firm interest from both parties. How much interest did we show in those players? How much interest have we shown in any small forwards for that matter over the last number of years? Does it highlight that over this period of time we have failed as a football club to entice any small forward of note to come over to the club? Also our inability to draft a decent small forward is there for all to see. But not our fault. It has just been bad luck. Keep on deflecting brother. It is amusing. :stern look
Blow job ball. Good work.Story has it we spoke to Membrey and he wanted to wait for a better offer. Darling said yes. That was that. Hard to imagine we'd have wanted both.
When Blow Job ball is done and dusted, and Hawthorn **** him off, Ginnivan might entertain a move to North.

Why derail the thread by bringing him up?this Zane bloke is a pretty good footballer
currently getting some sun in noosa with his brother and the west australian prince harley reid
.....aaaaaand go!
Big Plane Zane?Is he getting a flight home for the first training session tomorrow ya reckon?
Logic is the flaw in your argumentSo by process of logic, you think we failed to recruit these players because we didn't try hard enough? Or we didn't show enough interest? Well, all I can say to that is showing a lot of interest in the likes of Josh Kelly, Dustin Martin, Andrew Gaff etc didn't guarantee that we got what we wanted.
Perhaps the best thing we could do, instead of just trying or showing interest, is we could make the club a more stable and attractive work environment with a young list full to the brim with top end talent and potential. That might help us attract available free agents and out of contract players. So yeah, why don't we do that?

It's brought up in this thread by people who continue to thirst over Nick Watson and who live in regret that we drafted Zane instead. It’s been this mentality that has seen us not acquire a high quality small forward(s) in years.
Seems strange it keeps getting brought up in the Duursma thread, considering he plays taller than smaller.
Because our quality forwards are too tall to be called small?Question without notice, why dont we have any quality small forwards?

Thomas, Horne-Francis and phillips are three top ten picks that hurt us massively.
- Being reliant on late picks, the rookie draft and the mid-season draft (see also - tall forwards)
- Poor talent ID
- For some reason overdoing the list with mids
Most of his goals come from his ground level game IMO. He was also number 5 in the league for tackles inside 50. In the team with the least i50's and arguably the crappiest i50's. Midfield dominance with better entries and more of them and he becomes a serious weapon. He is, but he tends to play more like Lindsay as a smaller target than a true crumbing forward like Pickett or dare I say the Wizard
Thomas and Horney Frank face were the logical picks at the time. Could never have foreseen losing them how we did at the time. The Thomas one hurts massively. Honey Frank we turned into the best outcome we could in the circumstances. WAP was in a very disappointing, unprecedented covid draft class. Still holding on to some hope he comes good and loves being a shinboner as much as anyone on the list. Has has some great attributes but could also be his last yearThomas, Horne-Francis and phillips are three top ten picks that hurt us massively.
